I really don't think they were trying to imitate Slipknot, especially in the way Trivium ripped off Metallica. I think BMTH has more talent and a more varied sound than Slipknot does.

I think that this release was definitely a step in the right direction, I think this sound is much better than the one found on CYB. The only flaw I really see with this album is that they could have changed things up a bit more (regarding their sound). Still a pretty solid release imo.

I never said they tried to imitate them really, just that there are some definite similarities in their sound (more so in the production than anywhere else but a few of the riffs, like the main riff in The Comedown, are very Slipknot-ish)...Also, I don't know if BMTH has more talent than Slipknot as far as instrumentally...Jordison is overrated but he is a better drummer than Matt and Jim Root/Mick Thompson have more technical ability than BMTH's guitarists...

Fair enough, I see what you mean now. I can hear some Slipknot, I just wouldn't go as far as comparing them with Trivium. As for talent, I don't know. BMTH definitely did more of the technical stuff on CYB, less so on this album. But I mean there's 5 guys in BMTH and 9 in Slipknot and to me BMTH sounds more skillful than Slipknot. Slipknot has also been active as a band longer than BMTH and if anything I definitely wouldn't say Slipknot is that far ahead of BMTH.

Yeah I wasn't really comparing the band's just the member's technical ability when looked at side by side...I never actually compared BMTH to Trivium either...

I don't really see why people "hate" this band that much. I mean I can understand not liking the band's music but there really isn't anything to hate here (other than their image but that is so shallow)

heyy dude BMTH is a good band just coz they like to look good and shit doesnt make them gay or a crap band and this review was either just makin fun of the band, coming up with little stories to make it seem longer

eg.

the band seems to be suffering from something I like to call Trivium Syndrome. Trivium Syndrome sets in when a band starts performing a song that was originally written by a band that they idolize (for Trivium this was Master Of Puppets) and then seemingly sticks with that sound for the next album (like Trivium did for The Crusade, which was more or less a Metallica tribute album).

seriously if youre gonna write a review make it abou the music.

That was quite possibly the dumbest post I have read all day long...you didn't read my review or any of my comments did you? I like a few songs off of here and I like the band (see my defense of their image and such on one of the reviews for Count Your Blessings)...I even said they were a good band multiple times and I like all of their albums to some degree...good God man learn to effing read...

Good review Brent. I will pos.
The only thing i would ask is to fill out the 'Recommended By reviewer' section.
The cover reminds me of 'Hours' by Funeral For A Friend.

Good review and I respect your opinion, however I agree with bringonthebreakdown as I think this band is hated on waay too much.

I personally love both albums; old and new. When I first heard The Comedown, I was shocked because it was a completely different sound. (Note that The Comedown is now the number one song played on my iTunes now)

I tend to agree where you say that they're forcing themselves into this new sound that they aren't ready for though.

I think that in the vocals department they've been influenced by aussie hardcore, for example Deez Nuts. Not that there's anything wrong with that because both are great bands. I think Oli has been held back a bit though.

I definitely agree that the drums and guitar have also been dumbed down and simplified. The band is capable of producing much more advanced music.

Props to the album: 5/5

I'm giving Bring Me The Horizon the credit that they deserve.

I'm really still questioning this CD.
I liked Count Your Blessings.
I really like Edge of your Seat.
I'm feeling kinda so-so on this one.

just listened to this album from start -> finish, and I can say it's definitely appealing to me more than count your blessings did.

however, some of the instrumentals can sound a bit of a mess, i.e. you can't decipher what the **** is going on.

The Comedown would have to be the best song imo.

Does nobody listen when I say I like the band and most of the hate they get is undeserved

This was a good review. Coherent and easily read. I've not listened to the album yet, but i was kind of so-so about CYB. I'll have to check it out.

Depending on what it was you were "so-so" on with CYB you may or may not like this...if you wanted more technicality then this probably wouldn't change your mind sadly...but if you wanted slightly stronger songwriting and a few attempts at atmosphere and whatnot (which I felt were awkward and out of place but your opinion may differ) then you might like it...
