The songs I have from this especially Two Weeks sucked, I'm in no hurry to get this. I loved This Darkened Heart too bad they lost thier way. Fortunately there's Diecast who i'll take over these guys any day of the week.

Almost as much as TFOI? This is much worse.

I never got into the Fall of Ideals, so I'll disregard the band in future. Good review.

Tracks 6-11 (with the exception of "The Air I Breathe") are all really good on TFOI. They're heavy and aggressive and don't fall into that sing the chorus, growl the rest bullshit. The first half of TFOI is the problem.

I liked the second song on TFOI a lot...the more I try to listen to this, the more disappointed I get...as far as Diecast goes...I never really got that into them...always thought they were more or less generic

Willie, i disagree with you about the first half of TFoI. That is the strongest part of that disc
Coke... "I would have went on about the vocals but I didnt feel like over-describing things for an album everyone's already heard."
Here's the problem with this comment for me. If I've misread the situation, then I'm sorry.
I'm not sure what Sputnik is going for these days, but it seems to me that you shouldn't review a disc based upon the fact that you think everyone has heard it. A track by track/instrument by instrument is obviously not necessary, but I think more info on what this album has to offer would be beneficial.
The review is well written and gets its point across, but it would seem more professional to eliminate the idea that everyone has heard this album and The Fall of Ideals and review the album for what it is. This Message Edited On 09.20.08

summary matches my own opinion to a t. I think the vocals are no where near the level of TFOI. the screamed parts are less intense and the clean parts are really weak. Still, solid instrumentation though

I agree completely with the review, except I love Believe In Nothing (not having heard the original) and I think Two Weeks is the highlight.

Totally agree on the review, although I don't really find the drums impressive. Doing nothing more than is necessary but no less either. Spot on the vocals, Phil sounds stale and tired.
Overcome is All That Remains doing the best impression of themselves.
Exactly how I feel about the album (bar Believe in Nothing, which sounds like they didn't know who they wanted to sound like). Still happy about the album cause it's got Chiron, which is my band favorite next to Six and Weak Willed. This Message Edited On 09.20.08This Message Edited On 09.20.08This Message Edited On 09.20.08

I really like this album, seems less forced than previous efforts

For me this is nothing more than average, the new clean vocals sound worse than the previous album.
However there are a few good lead parts which redeem the album somewhat.
No real replay value though.
EDIT: Good review as well. This Message Edited On 09.20.08

It's an alright album I guess. It just took me a couple listens to get into it. It's grown on me slightly. This Darkened Heart > All.

Haha the drums on rock band are ridiculous, especially with that crap pedal :/

If I liked TFOI would this be worth picking up?

If you absolutely loved Fall of Ideals you'll probably enjoy this. It's not a bad album per se just a bit disappointing. (I'm probably contradicting myself here idk.)
I listened to this twice and one of the choruses sounded fairly bad vocal-wise.
Then I heard Believe in Nothing. ugh. What a crap closer, I was almost kinda cringing internally. This Message Edited On 09.20.08

Good review, if a bit short. Slightly disappointed with this album but it'd be quite ridiculous to think this album's performance would out do TFOI by any degree, would have hoped it would at least equaled it. Still one of my fav bands, one of those people who fell in love with TFOI. The wide range of the vocals, particularly the higher range is what first attracted me to this band.
By contrast this seems a bit similar to the disappointment I had from BFMV's shift from The Poison to Scream Aim Fire...the latter albums worth a few listens but shortly put aside to listen to the 'old' stuff yet again. This Message Edited On 09.20.08

Great review, don't really care to hear this. TFoI was terrible and this is probably just a part II of that album.
