I just can't get into this...its...just...way...to...freaking...slow...for...me
Maybe its just the drums...I could live with it if the drums where cool but I swear it seems like he is playing the exact same thing for ever measure of every song...
|
| |
The drums aren't the point though. If you're looking for interesting drumming, then you shouldn't be listening to funeral doom.
|
| |
Its not that I'm looking for interesting drumming. I don't know there's just nothing here that captures my attention for some reason, and I enjoy a few other FD bands. I don't know this just seems to drag immensely for some reason.

Well what makes it so great for me are the vocals. That's pretty much the driving point of the album. They do nothing for you?
|
| |
The female vocals are pretty awesome really...there's just something about the harsh vocals that turns me off for some reason...maybe its just the production though.
|
| |
It's understandable that you don't like the harsh vocals, but the majority of the album doesn't have them. Production is a little muddy, but that's probably because it was independently recorded (at least I think it was), and the production goes very well with the organ anyway.
But yeah, this isn't for everyone.

There are a bunch of parts that I like, but when songs are upwards of 13 minutes long liking parts just doesn't work that well. They're re-releasing one of their albums on a label or something like that soon aren't they? Or did I read their myspace wrong...
|
| |
What I gathered from their myspace was that new material had been recorded ages ago, but they're looking for a label to distribute it. I'm a bit speculative on how active the one guy left is, it's been two years since the new material was recorded.
|
| |
That's interesting...I kind of think if the harsh vocals were mixed down a little more I could like this more...also its funny they're the only band I've seen that's used Tom's MySpace Editor V.3 or whatever haha...

| |
They're Italian, they think differently :P
|

it's like i want to like this album, but id rather complain about it.

Now I'm listening to "Fungoid Stream" which was also part of the package and despite their stupid ass name, the music is really good.
|
| |
Ah, I think you downloaded the same package I did
Fungoid Stream are pretty good, they're very much like Mournful Congregation.
|
| |
We might have. I also found that finnish band in it called "Colosseum" (probably spelled wrong) that I noticed you added. They're awesome. I didn't like most of what was in that package though.This Message Edited On 09.11.08

Yeah, definitely the same package. More than half of the stuff in there was terribly average. This stood out, Fungoid Stream were pretty good, and Colosseum are decent too. However, they're all somewhat imitating other bands
Consummatum Est -> Funeral (Tragedies)
Fungoid Stream -> Mournful Congregation
Colosseum -> Shape of Despair
They're still good though
|
| |
I haven't heard those Mournful Congregation or Shape of Dispair. I'll have to find them. There's another one in there called 1000 Funerals that is really good.
|
| |
oh yeah, the Iranian band. I've only had a listen or two, not enough to fully take it in, but the review of it that's already on here passes it off as amazing.
