Give me your e-mail and I'll
send you that song. You'll immediately want the whole album
It's cool, I am 'acquiring' it already, just a few more minutes and I'll have it. Thanks anyway.

I don't want to get too far off topic, but musically it is easily their best, but the song with the Solitude Aeturnus vocalist proves that they need to get someone with more power and range because their actual vocalist sounds stale after that song.

Ah fair enough. Just to prolong it a bit further, are there any growls on it?

None at all. I was hoping for them just for a change in the vocals.

Mmm I'm not so eager to listen now. Oh well, I'll see how it is, and maybe review it if I can be bothered/find time.

I thought about reviewing it, but I'd rather review their debut.

I'm still yet to hear their early stuff, I really want to though, they sound like they'd be really good at more brutal doom.

The first album has female vocals (not as operatic as the second album... different vocalist) and death vocals, and is actually funeral doom. Want it?
|

yeah sure, if you want to, but if it's a hassle don't worry, I have other means of acquiring it

That's my main problem with a lot of these female fronted bands is that they rely
too much on the female vocals and the music is generally really bad and generic
(and covering it with a layer of keyboards is just like wearing cologne after not
showering for a week... you still stink).
Totally agree. Its as if these bands use their female singers as a crutch and therefore, they use her as an excuse to write half-assed songs. The singer becomes a poster figure, helping the band achieve a more mass market appeal. Who knows, I may come across a female metal band that might turn my crank (and my heart hahaha).

I don't know if it's an excuse to play half-assed so much as they realize from the beginning that they're not very competent musicians and seek out the female vocalist to hide it.
I don't know if this band will be the one to change your opinion or not, but they at least don't fall into most the stereotypical pitfalls. They can play their instruments.

It's not hard to find good bands who employ this but it's also pretty easy to find terrible stuff too but all it takes is an open mind and not what i like to call Willfellsmarsy syndrome. Which and what is the album your talking about female operatic vocals in doom? Could you Send it to me at hatebreed9090@yahoo.com. I love all that neo-classical, gothic stuff so i'm probaly into this more than anyone else in the site but Todesbonden's myspace is worth checking out. Singer plays in Autumn Tears who is also rad.

This sounds pretty cool, I'll check it out.
Julie Christmas is still my favorite female metal vocalist though, and that's not going to change.

I've never heard Made Out of Babies, but from what I've read it isn't anything like this. Check their myspace page.

I think you put it better then me. But yeah, thats what I was getting at with the crutch thing.

If I wanted to start a band but couldn't really play I'd definitely get a chick with tig
ol bitties to hide it. At least you've got something to watch when no one comes to
see you play.
Edit: I'm not saying this band did that. They can actually play. This Message Edited On 09.06.08
