I think the album is pretty cool. It's a bit droning, but not too bad. Heroin is awesome.

even if you don't like, I think it's impossible to argue whether its classic or not. the rating 'classic' is fact, not opinion. you cant argue with fact. (thats how i interprite it, and it is why people on this site hand out 'classic' way to casually.)
VU are one of the most influential bands ever, and album certainly is 'classic'

Classic is an opinion. How influential it was or how much people liked it is a fact, but no matter how much someone says it's a classic it will just be an opinion. Ratings are all opinions, there's no such thing as one view on music being the 'right' or 'true' one.

This album is definitely 'classic', in terms of influence, originality, and musicianship.
It also depends on how you percieve the word 'fact'. For example, in the middle ages, they beleived the earth was flat. Then they beleived that the sun orbited the earth. They took this too be fact, but they were proved wrong. With this in mind, how can we be sure that anything is fact? That what we beleive is fact? Therefor, what we take for fact might not be. fact could be an opinion, or opinion an fact.
If you think about this, not too much, not too little, it seems to make sense. However, if you think too little, or too much , you realise this post was entirely illogical nonsense.

VU have never been my thing I don't know why. I think it's because of the whole uber-hip scene tagged to it and how you can hear it in the music. Plus, Nico's voice causes me to have seizures.
"The Gift" is a great song (though its not on this album)

Led Zeppelin were influential, original at the time, and the musicianship was good, but they still made some awful albums.

This is my favorite VU album, has some of Lou Reed's best written songs. My favorite songs are There She Goes Again, Sunday Morning and I'll Be Your Mirror. For anyone who considers themselves musically knowledgable, they should know about this band...no matter how much you payed for it, its really worthed!!

aquired taste is needed here - but I love it!

I would have been outraged had this gotten any less than a 5 out of 5. A definite must for anyone who listens to any music as all, as the velvet underground and their contemporaries were the basis of most if not all of the music that is worth listening to today. I love Femme Fatale (the backing vocals make me smile) and Heroin, just because its the velvet underground and can totally pull that stuff off

I can't stand the Nico tracks, except for I'll be your mirror. Still, one of the greatest albums of all time.

"Heroin" is better than all the other songs on the album put together. Still love this, but I never really get around to listening to it as much as I used to.

I heard Im Waiting For My Man on the game True Crime and I like it, and I've heard a few other Velvet Underground songs that were less good. I personally prefer Big Stars cover version of Femme Fatale where the roles are reversed and the background singer is a female.

Femme Fatale is the worst song on this.
