Well you gave this album a 5, and while its not AWFUL its certainly not a classic. I would really appreciate it if you would at the very least enlighten me as to what it is about this band I'm apparently ignorant of.

Also, a difference in opinion does not constitute bad writing.

I've seen these guys live at a couple local shows. I enjoy seeing them live but as for simply listening to them, I'm not the hugest fan.

To answer your question, yes its common with metalcore/deathcore/popular music reviews that are negative. Just ignore your approval rating as long as its like, 80% people are still gonna check out your reviews.

The album may have it's rough spots here and there,

but regardless i find most of the tracks on the album very catchy and interesting.

Trying to compare Pat the Human to other southern/metal core bands is tottally crazy.

Pat the Human is a tottally different band then any band mentioned below.

Seeing them live is a whole new monster the only way to get "pat the human" for what it is , is to see them live.

The album was put together well, for their first cd not much more can be asked.

I beileve Pat the Human, will only mature musically.

I agree that they are quite entertaining live...but that is completely irrelevant really...this is a review of the content contained within the album, not a review of the band as a whole...the album is put together fairly well (with the exception of the few times the instruments seemingly get off track) and I don't think they are any different than the bands mentioned previously (except for they are a bit heavier)...

Maybe, but i cannot really see how you can compare them to He is legend or ETID.

They may have similarities here and there, but i think it's not enough to compare them to eachother as a whole.

Regardless, i still find their music very catchy.

There are a few technical things they could work on, but i believe they are not given enough credit for this being their first cd.

Unfortunately this was their only album and will be. But in all honesty this isn't as bad as you rated it. They have alot of talent and given more time and a better producer, you would get a much better album. They did the best with what they could and get major credit from me for trying so hard and succeeding in giving us something acceptable to listen to. Cant ask for to much more.

Any band given 'more time and a better producer' would have a better album, so that argument should be null. And if they did the very best they could with everything they could, they'd have had a great album, but they don't. This band spent so much money on equipment and stuff for their shows, and if they'd have put the care and effort into their album that they attempted to put into their live shows, their wouldn't be complaints about tracking and volumes and vocals. The songs are alright, but this band hyped itself way beyond the boundaries it could achieve, and it got annoying hearing them talk about how famous they were going to be and how they were going to be hanging out on tour with Coheed and Cambria in a few years, and pretending it was their day job after playing a few shows.

You CAN ask for much more, with the hype this band builds around itself. It's their only album because they lost tons of money buying weird shit like light controlling keyboards and neon green instruments, instead of building on the one thing that COULD help them stand up to the hype- their music. The talented members went onto making music with successful Dallas bands, while the others are currently wallowing in the past claiming that Dallas music died with them and urging everyone to support the 'new' Pat the Human whenever they finally return. News flash fellas, Dallas music is alive and well- it's moved on without you just fine.
