Band reminds me a bit of a heavier Cynic in the sense that they have a fantastic soft/hard/melody balance. I would also like to second the fact that this is a painfully underappreciated metal album; at least those who know it love it. The only issue I have (which is a small gripe at that) is that the drums sound a little processed and digital (but are still beastly)

Thank god that this was released in 07, as i would have needed to re-do my top 10 for this year..This would have battled with Cynic for overall honours.. This is brilliant, great review..IMO this is up there with disillusion's splendour.. This Message Edited On 12.04.08

lol singer's screams are so awful
lol he sounds like a mainstream rock singer with the screams of that In That Moment lady, except, if she were a man. This Message Edited On 12.04.08

they aren't awful, i initially didn't like them myself but they really grow on you/fit the atmosphere of the record. He's basically a tremendous vocalist.
|
| |
Minus that part where his screams are awful
|
| |
sigh

Sorry
His singing is strangely catchy.
I have to note that he looks retarded when he does it, however.
|
| |
i think if you listened to the whole thing you'd start to dig the screaming too
|

I'll go looking for it
And we'll see

I've been looking for this for months but can't find it for some reason.
|
| |
i can send it to anyone who wants it?
but i think it's available on their official website and maybe amazon too?
|
| |
I've put this down to a 4.5 because despite how much I love this I don't think it's quite up there with my other top albums. In all honesty I would have this in a section between the 4.5 and 5 but, after careful consideration, would have to say it's closer to the former rather than the latter. Still an incredible record.
This may also have something to do with my declining interest in metal atm idk. This Message Edited On 12.18.08

Really?
I still find this to be pretty much perfect. Porcelain feels more like an intro track and could have been shorter, and Hang the Muse is I think a bit weak compared to the other tracks. But other than that, the thing that really makes this a 5 for me is that I never get tired of it, and whenever it comes on, I'm happy to be listening, and never change it.

I don't know, I think when I listen to it I really really love it but I never have the urge to listen to this, although like I said I think it's more I'm on a bit of a non-metal binge atm. Over the last month or so I've lowered 5's I had for this, Rust in Peace & Back To Times of Splendor.
Although out of the 3 this is best and most likely to go back up out of them all. Idk man, I'll give it another listen and see how it goes aha.

Tru.
I lowered some 5's too recently.

I almost feel like a traitor doing it. Maybe I'm too cool right?

lol nah man, don't feel like that.
One of the 5's I lowered was Equillibrium's Sagas, almost felt the same way but it's w/e man. 5's should be special.
|
| |
Yep, you're right. This one is the only one that may or may not go back up to a 5, we'll see how things roll.
Sagas lost some of it's edge for me too actually.
