Projector was the first album I heard by these guys, so that might have something to do with it. Before Projector all of their albums were import only, but then they signed to Century Media and actually had US distribution (and Projector was their first album with US distribution).

what don't you like about the gallery willie?

It's just boring to me. Yeah, the opening song is awesome and has all these different parts and most songs have one or two really cool melodies, but overall it just seems undeveloped and boring to me. Their "Of Chaos and Eternal Night" EP that was released before it has some awesome songs, and their debut, Skydancer" was kind of quirky and eccentric so after those two albums "The Gallery" was kind of a let down. This Message Edited On 08.01.08

I'm still yet to hear any pre-gallery stuff, I might do that soon

I think you should. Skydancer has some of Anders' (In Flames singer) best vocal work. The lyrics are strange, the music is raw but inventive and the song "A Bolt of Blazing Gold" is easily one of their best.
Edit: If you didn't know, Anders did vocals on "Skydancer" and Mikael Stanne (current vocalist) played guitar and did occasional "clean" singing. This Message Edited On 08.01.08

yeah I knew about Anders on their first album. I'll admit that he was decent earlier on and became terrible, so I'll see how it is.

Anders can growl. He just doesn't do clean singing/metalcore screaming well.
This is a good album, perpetually underrated.

Exactly, on pretty much everything before Clayman or Reroute to Remain he sounded awesome. I still don't think he's as terrible as people think, but then again, I've just gotten used to it.

Exactly my thoughts as well. I gave The Gallery a few more listens last week and the most it will ever get is a 3.
3rd favourite DT album. Very good review too.

Fiction and Character, apparently. Kinda odd that he (seemingly) likes them equally.

I think I'm the only one who considers The Mind's I to be in the top 3

what is a good place to start with DT

The best place to start is easily "Fiction" (which is their latest album too), because it's
almost like a career-spanning comprehensive album, except they're all new songs on
it.This Message Edited On 08.02.08
