i can't comment on the original version of this review, as i'm obviously reading it after you've edited it, but i can't see any problems with it at all. it might just be because i've recently really gotten into this band, but i found it a very interesting read.
i'm probably gonna get this anyway, but it's gonna be pretty intriguing - i was quite suprised by Gobbledigook...

Yeah, like foreverendeared is saying, it's all subjective, I hope people remember that when they read it. I know the review is opinion made to look like fact, but that's what every review is. So far so good though.

This is a good review. It's the first one that doesn't seem to be reaching or making shit up just to get in the 2.0 range, and it also doesn't come off as a rant which seems to be what a lot of people are turning their negative reviews into. If people are objective this shouldn't get negged even if they like the album.

Yeah but people don't understand that here. And that's the exact argument they will use over and over if they decide to bash you; is that you "didn't do a good job backing this up," even though you did. They just repeat that over and over to delude themselves into thinking they're making a good point because you can't respond to it, not realizing the reason you can't respond to it is that it is a completely invalid argument.
Anyway it definitely looks better now with the edits.

What was once a warming, touching, experimental, contemplative and ultimately fresh sound in ‘Agaetis’, has now been drugged up, exhausted, and stretched so thin that its become an over-romantic, gratuitously dramatic, tedious pile of slush that’s about as challenging as facing a hydrophobic blind retard with no arms in a swimming race, and not nearly as fun.
This may be one of the worst sentences I have ever read on this site.
On a side note to this sentence, 'hydrophobic blind retard with no arms in a swimming race,' is pretty immature to say the least.

I disagree heavily, obviously, and you have a few inaccuracies here. You assume that a lot of the album is in Hopelandic when really only one song is, although I forget which one it is. And this whole review seems like you were trying to enter DFelon's contest and exaggerating everything you didn't like about the album so you could rate it a 2. You are, after all, one of two people who have given it a rating so low. I'm not saying it's possible that you actually think it's this bad, but the review seems more forced than anything. And as Ryan said, the retard sentence was completely unnecessary.

Thanks for the comments, FP. I thought 'Hopelandic' was just a term used specifically for Birgisson's style of singing, I'll edit that. I have to say though that my feelings for this album have always been the same, I thought the same thing before the contest, and the album never grew on me so I thought why not enter the contest. Sure, I may be one of two people who think this is poor, but that just means my tastes on the album differ from the majority, not that they are artificial. I may not have written a review if it weren't for the contest, but it would only be because I can't be bothered with the controversy it would bring.
Oh, and my analogy was purely a ridiculous exaggeration to emphasize how much I felt this album lacked any imagination. I sincerely apologize to all the hydrophobic blind retards with no arms out there who may have taken offense to my analogy. You are better than us.This Message Edited On 07.10.08
