title track = unofficial anthem of the dark knight

The vocals and guitars don't mix well in the songs to me. And the song "Second Chance" is unbearable. It sounds like terrible pop Jonas Bros. style music. Not recommended.

I know one or two of their songs and they're good.. maybe I should take a look at this..

I'm a little confused as to why this band isn't hated all too much like Nickelback on this site. They seem to make the same type of gruff post-grunge music.

Brilliant album. No filler to be found here, just good song after good song.

i have nothing bad to say about this album. although a lot more of their songs on this album are going mainstream, I think that's probably just the result of their improving sound. This album is really good, and every song is fun to listen to, each one sounding a little different than the last. very well done.

ya this album did go a lot more mainsteam which is not a bad thing at all. these guys will be hated just like nickelback in no time, they sold out the venue they normally play at which means they are getting bigger, which means sputnik hates them
guaranteed not everyone who rated this so low heard the whole album

Dang it, fromtheinside, I'd like to agree on one of these for once. But where's the filler? Granted, I wouldn't expect a lot on here to consider this a classic, I am obviously biased toward this album. But still, the diversity and quality of the ballads and the strength of the heavy tracks on here suggest nothing even remotely close to filler.
And this is one of those rare cases where going mainstream was what made them better.

The heavy tracks do follow a similar structure aside from Devour and Sound of Madness, so I can see how those could sound similar. As for the ballads running together, that was my beef with the new Skillet album, but here I think the ballads are diverse. Breaking Inside is actually my favorite here (yes I'm aware that many consider it the worst track here), it has an uplifting quality for me. And I like Call Me cause a piano ballad is new for the band.
Leave A Whisper was okay, but THAT one was the one I think has too much filler, instrumentally it was standard nu-metal fare with little highlights, the lyrics were mostly generic angst and Brent's vocals were weakest then, the guy had a phenomal voice, but didn't know when to restrain it. I mean, I have it as a 3, so I didn't hate it, but I think it's their weakest.

I will continue trying Chevelle, but I'll be honest, so far it's not quite grabbing me. Hopefully they'll sink in more, but I'm not feeling it yet.

Yeah, his vocals are great on 45.
I'm more drawn to the recent poppier and riffier material here on Madness, but by no means do I think the old stuff is bad. Brent has a heckuva voice, he always has.

... man this band blows to no end.

This guy's voice annoys me, especially on the title track and Second Chance.
