Album Rating: 4.0
thing is...is that its too inconsistent, much like most of the complete box sets that have popped up. the bitches brew one, on the corner, and this were all a chore to jam to. and i love these record. this stuff is for the elite miles fan.

Woah this has its own review, nice!
Finally exploring this set and I'm loving it. The endless "The Ghetto Walk" is surely a gem, like also "Early Minor". The unedited version of "Shh / Peaceful" is refreshing to hear too, an interesting alternative. "Ascent" and "Directions" I and II fit nicely in the package even if the latter get nicely hard-hitting. "Ascent" is a perfect addition though!
All in all I think the nocturnal feeling is still there in this big set, even if the original album has its own different unmatched magic (and editing prowess - let's not forget the importance of the producer for an album like this!)... but really, if you want that experience you can just listen to the final two tracks of this set (I like how they put the original album at the end, like saying "this was the final product of these sessions"). Win-win.
The only gripe is that the two original In a Silent Way tracks don't sound as good as the old Japanese CD copy I usually listen to (35DP 70), meaning that from a purely sonical perspective this isn't the definitive edition of In a Silent Way, unfortunately
