a good CD, but the other two Katatonia albums that I've listened to (Brave Murder Day and Dance of December Souls) are just 3.5 albums for me. Same with Viva Emptiness. the band just doesn't give me that overall 'excellent' feeling.

Solid work, certainly not their best. For "newbies" get "Last Fair Deal Gone Down." It's a much better album. Has a "porcupine tree" buzz to it.

That still doesn't make them similar. Akerfeldt did vocals for Bloodbath, and they aren't comparable to Opeth.

More sound wise. Towards the middle-end it felt a bit samey, but not in a bad way. I still feel it's an excellent album.
