I can understand why, but its funny that radiohead told their fans NOT to buy it... lol

Its a crappy compilation anyway. I love radiohead till the end, but this is not them.

Radiohead is one of my favorite bands, but this just isn't the way to enjoy them.

It's better to just start with The Bends (because Pablo Honey is meh) and work your way through their discography instead.

Radiohead told there fans not to buy it for two reasons:

1. They hate greatest hits type albums

2. This is released by EMI so they have no control over whether they release this or not.

They are a good collection of songs... it's not hard with Radiohead, for sure...

An alright review, it's tough to review Radiohead's fans will have different opinions on every album and every song anyway! Like the guy who likes on this board Kid A and OK Computer, it's tough to cater for their liking on this album, especially when other albums have to be thrown in. I personally cannot believe Climbing Up the Walls wasn't included, it's epic, and that's the problem... fans of Radiohead all have out own 'greatest hits' in our own head, and we will more often than not listen to a whole Radiohead album than sit down with this.

For people trying to get into Radiohead, I am not sure whether this album would just confuse. Fake Plastic Trees flowing into Idioteque... interesting... I guess we fans just need to stress to people wanting to get into Radiohead the importance of listening to their albums! And pfft, a greatest hits without any In Rainbows? EMI can go stuff it.

i personally do not like best of albums,
if you are going to listen to a band,
listen to all their cds,
i find that a lot of times the best songs are the ones that go unknown.

Paranoid Android is the best song here, and my favourite radiohead song.

There are four things that make all the Radiohead albums except Pablo Honey great....When I bought and listened to “The Best Of” I judged it by these four categories to see if it would be a good listen.

As this cd is a greatest hits compilation, it’s downright dumb to assume that the songs are going to flow or develop as they do on Radiohead's other albums. Your only concrete problem with the cd was that the tracks were not ordered chronologically (like 90% of every greatest hits compilations are...how original) and thus didn't mesh as they would on any of the albums these songs are drawn from. Greatest hits cds are meant to provide a sampling of highlights of a bands career, not to be a single cohesive, flowing collection of tracks the way a normal album is. Don't rate a greatest hits album poorly because its not a regular album.

theres no such thing as greatest hits for radiohead, every song on ok computer etc is an essential listen. this is emi wanting to cash in on success they did not earn

I'm not supporting EMI's decision or championing greatest hits albums in general, but thats just a stupid statement that added absolutely nothing to this thread.

I can see what your saying about the songs flowing into each other and stuff, but how any album that has the high quality of songs on it that this album has deserves a 3 is beyond me.

Just look at the quality of them....Put them in any order I don't mind. Throw them in a mixer and just randomly listen to the album and it's still great.

Sure greatest hits albums are very different to the regular albums and they don't often have the same feeling as the regular albums but I don't think this is a reason to give it a 3.

I think it may have to do more with the very high level that Radiohead albums normally have and than compaired to that it might seem less. But I say judge an album on it's songs and these songs are mostly awsome!

dude radiohead doesn't want their music to be heard in this fashion, its like somebody taking a bunch of harry potter books you wrote and starts selling them out of order.

I can see why radiohead would feel this way...

They are the creators of this beautifull music and as such should have more to say about what happens with it.

However at some point in time, somewhere in a big oval office, some suits signed some papers and an arrangement was made.

I don't know the details but I'm sure there was an exchange. I.e. money for songs and albums and I don't know what else.

And I gues under this arrangement they signed the rights of this music away to the suits.

Sad but true...

And now the suits can use this music for greatest hits and re-issues.

As a fan I don't want to get caught in the middle of this dis-agreement and as such I say enjoy the music. The re-issues of the bends and ok computer are excellent!

Should we not buy those as well and give them crappy ratings which in no way reflect the quality of the songs on the records?

Best of Radiohead seems like it's kind counter productive since a lot of there albums only work as albums and not individual songs.

I guess I feel that way about most bands though.

Has anyone else noticed that the cover is a reference to Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here"?
