I still think it makes sense but I could clarify it. I'm basically saying it doesn't exist because Ihsahn has anything interesting to say but rather because fans expect a follow up. It's not so much an assumption as it is an observation though.
Ah I see now. Thanks for the clarity.

I thought this was a bit better than The Adversary, to be quite honest. Yeah, the vocals are a step down, but the music's quite cool, barring a few similar-sounding moments. I kinda like how he replaced a lot of the synth work with guitar layering; it gives the album a different feel.
Emancipation is a monster track too.

I get the Justin Timberlake comparison... but you could have used anybody but Justin Timberlake, because Justin really doesn't fit here. Maybe I am using the wrong choice of words with "comparison", but any artist would fit. Heck, maybe even someone from the same genre. My point is that that piece doesn't fit in the rest of the puzzle, so to speak.
Plus, if it's disjointed and unlistenable, why give it a 2.5?This Message Edited On 05.28.08

Because its still tolerable.
I just gave this a good thorough listen and I'm not impressed in the least. Ihsahn went downhill with this one. The song with Mikael Ã…kerfeldt is alright but nothing special. Really, really boring album.

Tolerable and unlistenable? that kind of doesn't make sense to me, could you or Cocaine make it just a bit clearer.

Its not my review so I can't speak for him hahaha.
I'm currently giving this another listen and the album just feels stale to me. All of the music on this album was already done on The Adversary. He should take some more risks with his future stuff.

I feel like this album is a lot heavier, and just more concentrated that the Adversary.
The guitars and keyboards slay.

Good review, not your best, but better than some of the more recent Tri---, er, trash.

Well, if the Adversary is better than this than that must be amazing, i think this is pretty damn good. A solid 4.

Because he got mad that I called him out on what I think is a lazy review, that's why.
|

by coke's standards the review is subpar actually, but it's nothing he can't fix

^ Agreed.

It's actually because I dont need some insolent little cock mongler insinuating that because the review is somewhat vague and general that it's a reflection of laziness and a lack of integrity. Don't give yourself that much credit, you didn't call me out so much as catch me at a bad time.

Changing my rating on this. Gave it a few more listens and the album clicked finally. The instruments still sound kind of hollow sounding and Ihsahn' Rob Halford impersonations are quite awful.

This is a hard album to get into but after 10 listens it's enjoyable a lot. Ihsahn is a genius.

I really don't know what to give this.
