Is it just normal doom then? Yes, its a superb album one of my favorite doom albums.

No not normal doom, it's pretty unique. Categorizing them as a single sub-genre probably isn't right, there's a bit of everything. But yeah, it's not funeral doom. I'm not sure if you've already heard them, but give a listen to a track of Worship on their myspace and compare that with this, and you'll see what I mean. I really like this though.
How different from this is their other album that's also reviewed on here?

Its really different, their are female vocals in the other one theres a huge gap of like 5+ years between albums. Its still good, just not near as good as this...

I tried to find that previous one and someone said that it's out of print, so good luck. I'll let you know if I find it first, though.

you can still download it easily
|

yeah, I usually download first and buy later, I've only ever bought an album I had no idea about a couple of times.

I generally just buy and suffer the consequences later (but before buying I'll try to find song samples from legit places if possible). I prefer that over downloading for free; I still feel guilty.

do what I do and buy (roughly) one album in five or something :P
I own something like 110-120 CDs and I've rated just under 500, so I feel pretty good

I do DL occassionally (I don't want to come off like a hypocrite), but usually only after I've exhausted other means of finding it or if it's out of print I will do it and not feel guilty at all cause they weren't going to make money anyway. I have an entire wall of CDs... it's pretty sad ;)
|

yeah I can imagine how huge your collection would be. At least you know that if you ever want to give the entire thing away to someone, I'd be more than willing :D

Well. There are ways of getting you "temporary" copies of some things ;)
|
| |
haha yeah, but I've always loved owning albums. It's more about the joy I receive buying/keeping/storing/listening to them then it is about a debt to the bands, although that does play a part.

I agree. I'm the same way, but with over 1000 CDs I can't help but have a 180gig iPod to tote my music around with.

does anyone else have people that tell you buying albums is stupid? I don't know what the hell they're talking about

You can always youtube almost of all slightly well known songs. I'm siding with the idea of downloading every song you can get, and buy the albums that rule, or slightly rule. It's not as if I can't download anymore I start buying more CD's, I just don't have the money.
Vagrant God would have to be my fave from here.
Oh hell yeah! Best doom song ever.

I love these guys. I kind of didn't keep up with them after this album though, but I enjoy the first four (including tristesse). They're all really good, but different, so there is a reason to have all 4.
