So he could have said that this album was 1 outta 10 and you wouldnt think that was a bad review? And I thought it was just a bad review in general.
Anyone can pan anything they want for any reason at all. Live with it.

I always thought Les sang and played the bass simultaneously on "Tommy the Cat," but that would be too much insanity and hand-vocal coordination to comprehend.

Was about "Is It Luck" he sings and plays that, even if it is a "mess" it would still be hard to use the whammy, slap, pop and sing.
Is It Luck is a great song!
American Life is a great song!

I think that this is a Tony Hawks 1 Primus fan. Note the 5/5 for Jerry (Sure is deserves that but there are much more tracks that deserve higher)
Yeah probably.

why do people think that every band has to fit into a genre? funk-alt-hillbilly rock-progressive-etc...
who cares?
primus has a style of its own, which i think is amazing. les claypool's bass playing makes most bass players sound like a kid with some stretched out rubber bands. this cd is a very good primus cd, however if you dont like primus already then you probably still wont after listening to this. and yea, this guy sounds like a tony hawk primus fan. im almost sick of that song, ive heard it too many times.

I'm not going to complain about the review. You'll already have had enough of that, in spite i don't like it and i think it's the best primus' album. I must also say that i love your brave genre description (hilbilly rock!!!. WOW!!)

I was going to bump this yesterday. This is the only Primus CD my local music shop has, and I was considering buying it. It sounds like a great album, so I think I'll go buy it.

Wow Robin. You really got hammered on this review. I have only downloaded a couple Primus songs, but I'll be sure to at least look at this album next time I'm at the store. :thumb:

It's a great album, and I think the reviewer was unfair.

Also, I'd just call them "alternative". That's what alt. music is: something that doesn't really fit into a genre.

ahh well...it doesn't matter much to me....It's the peopele's opinion of my review...ands in my opinion, Tales from the Punchbowl has more differences then this album, therefore, making it a better cd.

hey, here's an idea: you don't like my review? get off your lazy ass sand write a better one, giving the album the credit you think it deserves. then you can have a right to complain about whatever.

my review was my opinion, so get over it. I tried to be as unbiased as possible, but meh.

also: for the record, I've never played any "Tony Hawk" games, so I don't know what the hell you're all on about with that.

quit bitching about how you don't like my review and get a life. These threads are for discussing the ALBUM, not complaining about the review.

EDIT: besides, if you make a better review, not only will you have something better to admire, but other peopel will also have a "better" opinion on the album. just because you poeple don't agree with my review doesn't make it bad.

so, get over yourselves and tyalk about the CD, not my review!

thank you, have a nice day.

This is an album of epic proportions. When I first heard that Primus was on a top 40 station, with "Jerry was a race car driver", I flipped! There is hope for mediocre American radio. I saw them at St. Andrew's hall here in Detroit in 92' when they were supporting this album. Tad opened up for them. One of the best shows I have been to.

Good job, even though I don't agree with some of your ratings.

I'm not going to insult your opinion. I'm going to insult your review, for being horribly written and using little to no detail describing the songs. I love this CD, but that was a bad bit of writing.

-A friend of mine who is an amazing bass player can perfectly play tommy and sing simultaneously-he's done it live at 2 shows flawless. neways id have to say that seas of cheese is the best primus album (frizzle fry a close 2nd) and songs given 3's and 3.5's and such deserve much higher and 11 a song written in 11/8 time is one of the best songs on the cd.

Meh...the review is just an opinion. Primus certainly takes a good ear to listen to. I love 'em! They have to be the last new band I ever took a real liking to. (hmm...came out in '89?)
This was their best album, Frizzle Fry second. I can't believe I discovered them in that awful Bill & Ted movie. They were supreme when they opened for Rush. One of the greats!

He does. Tom Waits does the spoken parts, and there is no bass in those anyway.
