THE BEST ALBUM EVER!!!!
I heard Bat Country on the radio and saw it every now and then on Fuze and MTV and wuz like, holy crap, these guys are good. So I bought the cd. SOOO WORTH IT!!! The one song I don't like is Strength of the World. That song's kind of annoying. The rest though is insane. Synyster Gates is my favorite guitarist ever. The Rev has some insane drumming throughout the whole album. Just an awsomely made album. I'm really digg'n Beast and the Harlot right now. My sister tells me they just put it on the radio now too and I read they're coming out with a video for it very shortly. Can't wait!!

Dude, Avenged is my favorite band of all time [hence the 2 death bats on my chest] and I'm so nieve about this album not having any "cons". But reading this was so good and balanced man. The review is a true review from a listener who speaks for ALOT of people. GREAT job man.

WTF was musically a great album but, I know that it's going to strike many nerves and this is my biased viewpoint, I hate screaming, man I just don't dig it especially with the showcase of talen this band offers. I thought Shadows did a great job on vocals, this is one of the if not the best album I've bought in the last couple years, it's too bad that some of the MTV trendies have gotten ahold of this album because of Bat Country and it makes it difficult to respect many posts because of that, but anyways this was a great album with a good-minimally biased review.

first, i would like to start off by saying i just wrote a comment for this review, but it was too long. so i'm doing this over. i'll make a short but sweet version.
musicianship: 5/5
vocals: 3/5
overall product: 1.5/5
now, those numbers may seen a little skewed, but i have good reasons. the vocals, in some parts were very whiny. the "power shouts," if you will, in the chorus of "strenghth of the world" were tacky, resembling 80's power and arena rock. and "bat country" is aweful. the main redeeming factor is the vocals to "trashed and scattered." i love the verses.
a lot of the songs seem to come up short. like they had a good formula, but just didn't follow through.
however, "bat country" is a terrible song. and to be fair, i thought that the first time i ever heard it (june 7th, album's release date) which was way before MTV and TRL ever caught wind of A7X.
(first review by thread starter) 4.5/5

Dude, you can turn in reviews on the home page at the top of the screen, even if it's something that's already been reviewed.

Honestly i think this bad is just some shitty Hard Rock.. nothin like metalcore. I hate his voice, and alot of the guitar parts were annoying and boring.

What does metalcore have to do with anything, this band's only metalcore release was their first album.

so fuckin wicked...first listen can be deceiving. I heard it and pretty much dismissed it, and then i bought it and gave it a spin through the cd player and my jaw dropped. top 25 albums of all time. listen to the music, not just the vocals. throwing in spanish/flamenco guitars and wicked solos just kicked my ass. give this one a listen

This album was good, and I mostly liked Betrayed on City of Evil, but I really think that this album doesn't measure up to Waking the Fallen.. Like i say in my other comments, it's just my opinion towards it.This Message Edited On 02.01.06

"and most songs averaging 6-7 minutes, this is certainly not going to receive a lot of radio or MTV support "
as it turns out...
I honestly can't understand why these guys are so popular on MTV and the like right now. For god sakes they hit number one on TRL. And i cant think of one reason why. (I'm not implying them to be sellouts BTW). It just boggles me.

Because Bat Country is catchy as fuck. And people want too seem "hardcore." That and the video is kind of cool, but the kind of shit that the MTV crowd will eat up. As has been proven.
|
| |
But they could've made a better music video than what the "Bat Country" one was, they really didn't need to worry if fans like them. The fans that like them will buy their album, but whatever, still a good cd nonetheless. This Message Edited On 02.02.06

The video followed the lyrical theme, you have to have seen Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas to get it entirely.
|
| |
very well written

this album is crazy. too bad you said it wouldnt get alot of MTV support, "Bat Country" was TRL's #1 for like 5 weeks straight (no i dont watch, my gf told me about it).

Cuz it'd be such a tragedy to glance at MTV every once in awhile. I don't know how you'd sleep at night.
I, personally, enjoyed the video. The whole idea of it following the theme of fear and loathing was cool, but a bit ambitious for a music video. Not a big surprise that the MTV crowd ate this up.
