i sometimes find alexi goes over board...but that's my impression...

solo work should be about expression not wanking!

as far as the album i didn't want to give it such a low rating but some songs should have not been there. sometimes making a awesome 8 song or 9song album is better than adding one or two songs that are forgetable (idle hands, mystery of one spirit) they have the drive here...you can tell when listening to the war within.

i also like the "campfire" solo acoustic touchs...it almost gave it a epic feel ruined by the extra songs...This Message Edited On 02.13.06

Idle hands and Mystery of one spirit were actually stands out on the album for me. The best song on the album hands down is Fire in babylon they should do more epic tracks like this maybe i would listen to them more if they did. I like this album better than the war within the vocals sounded a little better to me on this one for some reason.

If you think that's good, the rest of the album will cause you to explode in a pile of musical goodness.

That's a pretty true statement. That song is surely the most epic song they've ever made. I also can't get enough of their Pink Floyd cover. They certainly do that song more than justice.

Good Album. The War Within is still my Favorite though. Stepping Outside The Circle and Thoughts Without Words are my favorites. I think the little acoustic insturmentals are dumb. They make the album to short. This Message Edited On 06.10.06

He's incredibly talented, but his clean style can wear on you after hearing it for extended periods of time. He can scream like a mofo, though.

Great review ShadowsFallen. This album falls just short of a classic for me. I am with Kripes, Brian's vocals are nothing short of amazing. The highlights for me on this album are A Fire In Babylon and Idiot Box.
