i listened 2 it last night for the first time as ive just recently got into dream theater and i also found an extremely odd feeling like theyve ripped off muse. Never Enough sounds almost exactly like Stockholm Syndrome by Muse

DT's worst album exept for When Dream and Day Unite and as good as Falling Into Infinity IMO. Without the title track, this album would be my least favourite.
Good.

train of thought was way better for me.
why is it they can't just get to the point and make a good solid song without trying to make an opus.
this is when ambition loses it's way. This Message Edited On 02.09.06

Ive only heard Panic Attack on this album and it was amazing so I should check the
rest of the album out shouldnt I?
And don't you think rating it a 1 is a little harsh? I mean, it still sounds good doesn't
it?This Message Edited On 02.10.06

panic attack could have been done by cheville. dream theater have the ability to do great music but it often doesn't come across well...
most of the album sounds really,REALLY close to coldplay...
maybe a one is harsh but it's honest...

This album was a little jump for me. I really like it a lot, the music is beautiful. The Root of All Evil gets a little long in my opinion and Panic Attack is just awesome. The title track, Octavarium, blew me away! the first 4 minutes were a bit painful now i just easily skip over it, but the rest of the song is just so awesomely composed! I write my own music, and believe me to write a song like Octavarium isn't a simple task. The keyboard is more noticeable in that song than any other on the album. Overall, great review and great album

Something about this album didn't sit too well with me. Oh, I know what it was. "The Answer Lies Within"Almost ruined the entire album for me.
Corny garbage, even if it does have a good sound to it.

I admit The Answer Lies Within definitely has way too happy of a feeling to it at some parts, it doesnt compare to some other slower songs of theirs like Vacant.

Octavarium grows tiresome after about 16 minutes or so. I have an extremely hard time listening to songs over 20 minutes long unless they are done by Godspeed. That being said every other track on the album is excellent and I listen to this more than any other Dream Theatre album that I own.

Yea I like to keep octavarium the song separate while listening to the album and listen to it by itself, listening to every song then octavarium can get tiresome.
p.s
Vacant is killer!

The best part of Octavarium (the song) is the last 5:19 of the song, i forget off the top of my head which name this "section" of the song has, where Labrie starts talking and builds up to a scream of "TRAPPED INSIDE THIS OCTAVARIUM!" I usually skip up to that part and listen to the rest of the song, its awesome from then on.
ha and also, i have a habit of listening to Vacant before I go to bed haha its just a good way to end the day

octavarium is an album that grows on you, i loved the concept on a never ending circle of life, its so pwerful when the end note of octavarium is the same note as the beggining of the root of all evil. The whole idea of the 5/8 was brilliant too, ireally enjoyed listening and looking at it. another thing, sacrificed sons solo section sounds so cool i like it at the end when the mesh the solo and the intros together which flowed like water.
