Insomniac is a fairly good album, but Nimrod is horrible. After that, I think that they went downhill, and I think that they're strarting to get back up. I hope they progress, instead of regressing back to the "Old Green Day". God knows how that would turn out.

I have heard the entire album all the way through once and loved it.I like the stories the album tells and it's in order.Good melodies and different use of tempos.GreenDya being the lyrically driven band they are sowed more care for the musicality of the album.Very good job on this album and Billy Joe Aemstrong is a fabulous writer.

Does anyone understand that this is a punk rock opera? Did no one else get that that is why there is so much hype around the album? And not to mention that the songs kick ass in general. And while u think that Green Day has "jumped on the wagon" by creating a darker image, thikn about this. Simple Plan is garbage, apon that we all agree. GC really went goth and tried to be a mainstream band that reached the most un mainstream people. Sum 41's chuck? All I can say is what the fuck?

But this album is a massive improvement over Warning, Green Day's last record. Green Day needed to reach fan's with a massively great album. And they did.

And many of u people make a huge deal about it being all political. I can count one song that calls out politics. Holiday. Other than that, name me one other song that is "too political" for your liking. American Idiot? Not Political, just saying that there are Idiots out there.

Damn, a video for Jesus Of Suburbia?? That should be interesting...

A fifth single is alright with me. A little excesive, but no big deal. As long as it doesnt involve more of Tre Cool cross-dressing, I'll be fine. :thumb:

Sum 41's chuck blows this out of the water. And no shi its a rock opera, I've heard it from every music magazine. Just because it has a concept doesn't make it awesome. For example The Wall (though the wall is pretty good, it isn't awesome).
Billy Joe Aemstrong is a fabulous writer.

his lyrics aren't anything really special

American Idiot was directed towards the government. Wake Me Up When September ends has a very political video, and I recall Letterbomb being about politics too. The whole album was aimed at bush.

think most of these people haven't even listend to the album. They're basing their judgement on the singles they hear on the radio. You need to actually listen to the album all the way through, then you'll understand what all the hype is about.

First off if 5 of the singles suck, then the album probably isn't that good. A lot of the people have heard this including me (I own it :upset: ) and even if it is listned to as a whole its not that great.

If you buy this album your an american idiot. OMG LOLZ!!11!1!!!111!

I feel bad for Cheeto T. Sum 41's Chuck was a goth bandwagon piece of crap. American Idiot is music that had a fuckin direction. Chuck was about... nothing. Like eveyr other record out there. Green Day took a chance. None of their singles suck, cept maybe BOBD.

^^Stroke of Genius. Do you write for SNL? Or maybe Jimmy Fallon? They're just both so funny like you, I cant imagine you writing for nething else.

Chuck, while not a great album was better than American Idiot by a long shot. Who gives a flying fuc
k if its gothic (which it wasn't). Sum 41 took a chance by using more metal influence in thier sound. Green Day didn't take a chance at all. They still used the same old formulas. Lyrics and the concept of an album isn't going to going to lose fans. Jesus Of Suburbia may me be nine minutes but its extremely acceptable and doesn't differ from Green Day's regular sound. Records don't have to have a concept to be good. 99% of albums aren't concept albums, and even so American Idiot has a very vauge poor storyline.

^^^WHAT? I never posted that.

"Green Day didn't take a chance at all."

^ I beg to differ. If calling out politics and writing a punk opera, albeit a loose one, is not taking a chance, then what the fuck is? Sum 41 going metal was a chance but it failed. And Cheeto-T if you wanna be a jackass then you can get off Sputnik, cuz seriously yer just calling people out for no reason.

Oh yeah and having a nine minute epic be a single is taking a huge chance. 1039/Slappy is the only one with his head on straight.

there is a 97% chance of suck in our forecast for the new single

^There's a 100% chance of u just being a jackass and blowing off steam. JOS will be a great Bohemian Rhapsody-esque single. Wont get played much, but will be a masterpiece for years to come.

In an anti-bush america, not really. The "punk opera" thing only encouraged people to buy it. The story doesn't effect the songs at all. People will gobble up Jesus Of Suburbia just like the other singles. Remember Stairway To Heaven? It was played the shi out of, and it was 8 minutes long. Don't get your panties in a knot cause I don't like your favorite band.
