I've got the first three songs off this and I really want to buy the album.

An ok album. Crimson still sounds a lot like their previous albums. Time To Waste is without a doubt the best song on the album, as it's the only song that sounds different with the kick-ass piano melody at the start and the great harmonization throughout the whole song.

Sadie and Fall Victim are also standout tracks, but still not quite as good as Time To Waste. Prevent This Tragedy is perhaps the shittiest song I've ever heard by Alkaline Trio.

What's bad about the album is the fact that almost every song follows the same formula: Intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus, outro...very generic..

Overall rating: 2.5/5 They have the talent to make much better music. This Message Edited On 06.19.05

Alkaline Trio is such a great band, and this is another good release by them. Not their best, but its rather good. Alot of peoples critisism is for it being to "radio-ized", I agree it is a bit more geared for radio play, but that doesnt distract from it. It is a much more matured album and i do enjoy it, but nothing will ever beat From Here To Infirmary.

overall rating: 4/5
fav songs: Sadie, Back To Hell, Smoke

IMO, they're old sound is better, but if you like 'Time To Waste', you will like the rest of the album.

I'm really not into it to be honest, I'm a Goddamnit guy all the way. I just don't think the songs are as catchy, the melodies aren't as tight.

Just me..

I downloaded some old Alkaline Trio to sample it ages ago. I thought it was awful. The dude couldn't sing to save his life on the couple tracks I heard. Which is why I was so appalled when I heard this album. His voice got way better (though he BLEW on Conan... missed notes everywhere. Can't blame the bad acoustics in there) and the songs were much more... me-friendly. I liked this album quite a bit.

Really great album, I'd call the band industrial which would be why the guitar is so simple.

this album has to be one of the top 5 albums i've bought this year, and i've bought a LOT of cd's this year (in excess of 70). matt skiba's lyrics are nothing short of genius. who cares if they arent incredible musicians, they're tight as a band can get, and they have the talent to be HUGE. global stardom awaits. (i hope)

ps. Kripes - industrial? wtf? they're like dark (but not quite gothic) punk rock....kinda. but definitely not industrial. listen to nine inch nails. thats industrial.

i think that they're more along the lines of pop-punk with yet a dark idea. my brother says that their power-pop. eh. lots of people think that their emo too...i dont think so.

If I had to give this band a genre, It'd be pop/punk, newage emo, and alternative.

I guess I am wrong about that, but the guitar is simple like industrial music and actually the band has reffered to themselves as goth punk before as well as magazines, but I don't agree with that.

yeah Industrial is more along the lines of Jerk, or Seether.

I dont agree either. I didnt like dem for saying that about themselves. Kinda makes them sound a little too cliché. my opinion.

Seether =/= Industrial. Where are you getting your information from?

Rammstein, Fear Factory, and NIN to an extent are Industrial.

Anyway...I downloaded this from somewhere...I haven't listened to the whole thing. This group bores me.

Except for Prevent This Tragedy...that song is awesome. My band is working on a cover of it.

I'm not a fan of this kind of music, but there are some good songs on this album. "sadie and "dethbed" are good.
