I somehow really love the middle section of the album (Hold On To Your Friends to I Am Hated For Loving)
Morrissey's vocals was its peak (as the reviewer said) and the entire album (particularly that middle section) proves it

all of the rumourrsss, keepin me grounded
i never saiddd, i never saidddd

The ending of The Smiths song, “Pretty girls make graves” sounds like the intro to “Hold on to your friends”.
I’ve always felt that if the smiths didn’t break up, this is how they would sound like down the road

This album is essential

Ehh idk, I mean there are some fantastic songs, but Bona Drag is his best solo for sure and I know it's a compilation

Magnificent record.

This is so fucking good, as good as anything by the smiths
|

Absolutely.
From all The Smiths records, compilations and Morrissey solo albums he tops the pile with Bona Drag. This is top 5.

Opener is kind of stunning ngl. Love how vulnerable this record feels - maybe the first Moz record in which the world weariness feels genuine and earned instead of a tongue in cheek put-on or character bit.
