"Thanks Cathedral for being an absolute ***, really appreciate it dude, just a few things:
1. I didn't do a review on the distribution of this album, I did a review of the album itself
2. I am perfectly aware of the fact that this is a demo recording, and have changed the review accordingly, just for you.
now step the hell off, you jerk. note to people considering reviewing metallica - don't, everybody is an expert, and you WILL get everything wrong, as Cathedral has so kindly pointed out."
Over-react much?

its weird... track 1, The Mechanix, was done by Megadeth too... so who has rights to the song if Mustaine wrote the song, but Metallica recorded it first?
|
| |
Megadeth has the rights to the song cuz Dave wrote the lyrics and the riffs........ Metallica just slowed the song down and changed the lyrics..... i give Megadeth ALOT more credit than Metallica.
|
| |
wasent mustaine on vocals for this album? i downloaded like 5 songs with mustaine on vocals/guitar and it was by far better than any other thing metallica has put out
|
| |
Well u know why this demo is good?
because of DAVE MUSTAINE
|
| |
I don't know where you got the track listing for this, but it's wrong. The track listing should be thus:
1. Hit The Lights
2. The Mechanix
3. Motorbreath
4. Seek and Destroy
5. Metal Militia
6. Jump In The Fire
7. Phantom Lord
The other two songs weren't on the copy I downloaded.

A demo tape compiled for promotional purposes, 'No Life 'Til Leather' is seen by many as the true beginning of the Metallica juggernaut. Recorded while Dave Mustaine was playing lead guitar (his blazing solos are fun, fast & flamboyant) for the young quartet, all 7 tracks went on to be included on debut LP 'Kill 'Em All'. That alone says something about the caliber of the songs here, if not the rough sound quality & production values, which will turn many off. While far from tight, the musicianship is youthful & exuberant, with the talent exhibited on this enjoyable release readily apparent. Recommended Tracks: Seek & Destroy, Hit the Lights & Metal Militia.

One of the worst reviews on this site. He even admits to downloading it.
First off Dave Mustaine never did vocals on this release or ANY Metallica release.
Secondly 'Bay Area Thrashers' is not a real release. It's No Life 'Til Leather with the crowd added in.
Third the production is not bad. Your crappy Limewire version is the reason it sounds like crap.
And finally there is no vinyl of this because it was a tape. Any vinyl you find from a store is a FAKE!
There are many fake and edited versions of this demo tape on the internet. I have the original and it has false-starts.
The only downside to this demo tape is the vocals. James had not yet adopted his style and of course he was still very young.
Compared to Kill 'Em All they play faster on certain songs and the bass stands out more in the mix. Also Mustaine's leads rule.
