Pretty schmucky review, someone ought to write a new one - the album deserves more than a half-arsed song-by-song review.
In agreeance with what people have said, "Refusal" has to be one of the absolutely best Strike Anywhere songs. "Sunset on 32nd" is also amazing, if a little too long for its own good.
How's this compare to Exit English in terms of attitude and sound? I have EE and it's pretty good, but it didn't live up to what I was expecting.
It's a little less polished, has a little less guitar lines and a little less "melodiousness", I guess. Still anthemic and awesome. It's just a little 'rougher', but just as good as EE.

it's a great album. i think that songs like SST are teh songs that in the end, are great songs, but the intro isn't as good.
as for riot of words, i think the beginning is great, but near the end, it just loses its spirit.

Definately a great album. Hardcore? I dont think so...
I've always liked these guys even though their lyrics are a little lame when trying to be political.
Overall good stuff.

Man I just noticed that there was a review for this album on this site. I remember buying this album at the album release show at the Wilson Center in DC back in 2001 for $5...saw them 5 times that year. I love this album.
The next time I saw them I was at Fletchers in Baltimore and was taking a piss next to Thomas in the bathroom and asked them if they were going to include Riot of Words in the set that night ( I had seen them 3 times at that point and they hadn't played it) and he said yea we're gonna do it tonight...it was pretty cool. This Message Edited On 09.23.08

This is an awesome freakin' album. Took me awhile to discover it, but I'm glad I finally did. Modern melodic hardcore done right, like early Rise Against but more hardcore.
