The ciphers throughout the cd can take years to catch. Keeps me thinking every listen, even if it's going on 200. Style is original and captivating, especially from Vordul. The Message is clear, and on subject throughout. El-P's best work as well, this is a masterpiece.

Excellent review. Awsome
I feel many underrate Vordul. The first MC I found where his ciphers are actually decipherable, insteado f being cluttered with inside meanings only the artist can understand. Vordul verses in Cold Vein is like doing a crossword puzzle for me. High Art

yeah, the ciphers on this are dope at times, but really awkward/clumsy at others. every time i hear if at first you don't succeed, try try again, step up to the mic and die again, it's the next lifetime and you wanna battle, either you like reincarnation or the smell of carnations i wanna throw up in my mouth. such a terrible line and ridiculously dumb rhyme.
still, the high points on the disc more than make up for occasional lapses like that one.

I was talking more about Vordul, Vast Aires are little bit more straight foward.
Some of Vordul
These faces carry scars (mega large)/ Pigeons turn penguins talk fables cellular/ Detached Christ's Word/ But freeze-frame gold chain swing Son of God/ Iceberg gem shines on the neck of ghetto flight bird/ Getting fly like word/ Let it settle
or
"Tired of the Medicaid/ indebted by the car/ No container full of lemonade you better get a job!/ mother talked, just another hawk/
Humiliated bodega food stamp transaction/
Left me in corners buckled me accompanied by evil hands clappin'"

That other one is probably the best thing ever written. I wish Vast Aire sounded this good on his other releases, but I can't seem to enjoy them without his partner in crime, Vordul Mega, backing him up.

Just can't seem to get into this as much as other underground hip-hop, though I have the same problem with Wu-Tang Clan and there are definitely some similarities in style.
Is this a bit of a grower?

it was definitely a grower for me... took me plently of listens and then it just clicked, i thought it was very samey as far as production goes so i think it takes a while to get used to that
