It sounds like a band making fun of generic power metal. It's probably the worst name ever if you are trying to attract fans of other genres.
Power Rangers!

The best bandname ever (not seriously) is that black metal band Satanic Warmaster. But seriously I don't think band names are THAT important. I mean my band is called Misantro... what do you think of that???
|
| |
I think band names are an extremely important factor in attracting fans of other genres.. for example a band named I Torture You and then Eat Your Guts would not be the first choice for a fan of a band named say, DragonForce (heh).
Better than my band's name, Chaos Theory, we just found out it is already another band's name.

What does how the name sound matter?
Anyways...
I listen to this album over and over and don't get tired of it. I just love how fast these guys play. And I praise these guys for showing that you can play loud and fast and not have a lead singer who sounds like his throat is being ripped out. It's weird, but for the last 3 or 4 tracks, the guy kinda sounds like Joe Perry. Sorry if that makes some of you mad. Heh

A little disappointing in some areas, yet still great.
Does anyone else think these guys sound like a sped up Iron Maiden?
An obvious influence, but other than that, not really.

In fact, my parents both have a burned copy of this, and they've always loved how it sounds to them like a sped up version of Journey. You can agree or disagree as you see fit but they have made that comparison many times.

heavymetal axe: I'm glad that you think this album is a classic. I feel the same way.
and check out Soldiers of the Wasteland if you haven't already, I think it's the best song on the album.

I agree with Thor there. Soldiers of the Wasteland and Fury of the Storm are my favorites.

This band has one track: loud, fast (EXTREMELY fast), and superbly talented.
Luckily, they make that one track completely enjoyable.
Never have I heard an album such as this. Every member completely and utterly shines in every possible way, shape, and form...even the bassist, the most underrated member of the band. From the unbelievable solo battles to the general feel of the music, it just gives you a feeling of life. It lifts you up, prepares you for war, and sends you into the fury of the storm (hehe. :P)
A truely great album. Pick it up now.

I love this. This is the pinnacle of power metal as far as I'm concerned. It gets no better than Fury of the Storm.

Of course they're cheesy, but that's the reason why this band rocks!
You shouldn't take their lyrics seriously.

Amazing band. Amazing Album.
The band name is taken from an old Nintendo game.
Good review too.

"I dislike Maiden but love these guys, so that has to count for something."
Basically sums it up for me as well. Good review.

OUTSTANDING album. I've been listening to shredders for a long time now... Malmsteen, Nevermore, Black Label Society, Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment, Petrucci, Vai, Satriani... etc.... but DragonForce's Herman Li cranks the FASTEST shred I've ever heard. The band's insane tempo of their songs puts a perfect pace on the epicness of their awesome melodic soloing and main riffs. This band is the definitive of EPIC. Shred at its finest.

Well said. They also make shredding tasteful and for, the most part, fun to listen to. I can't stand such bands like Dream Theater and Malmsteen where I think their shredding is trite. Dragonforce makes it refreshing and still impressive. The horns go up to this band! m/
