Thankyou for the review man, its really good. I think people that dont open their minds to new sounds usually dont apreciate the sound that pink floyd makes, so they dislike it. I love this album along with every other album they have. I love Set The Controls... on Live at Pompeii. And when Syd sings the opening line to Jugband Blues. I love Pink Floyd. Let there be more light is one of the best psychedelic/space rock songs I've ever heard.

Great review. It helped me see the historical context of the album and who actually wrote the songs. I know that a lot of people think that Syd was still the main influence on this album...
My favourite tracks are as follows:
-Remember a Day
-Set the Controls to the Heart of the Sun
-Corporal Clegg
-Jugband Blues
Edit: It would be interesting if you could write who was actually doing the vocals on each track, because wow has their style ever changed.

This album rules, man. Corporal Clegg, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, and See-Saw are my favorites but you gotta respect them all.

I was just about to comment that this was very underrated. One of the coolest album covers too.

I haven't listened to a lot of Floyd's early work but a friend of mine said Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun was his favorite song by them.

Pretty good album, See-Saw and Remember A Day are beautiful, and the title track is stellar. Jugband Blues is a little overrated, though, and the end of Corporal Clegg is very annoying.

I agree with your review. I love going through Floyducation, seeing the transition from this album to The Division Bell (not my fav). Set the Controls... resonates an incredible mood! The tough part is trying to judge this album with only TPatGoD as a point of relativity. Comparing it to later albums (Wish You Were Here is my fav) is difficult as it's like apples and oranges.

Jugband Blues is easily my favorite here but the rest of the album is pretty enjoyable and often overlooked.

I agree with you, and smiled wide when you said Rick really stands out here, it is true, remember a day is incredible, and Set the controls is a psychadelic classic

I don't understand at all how many people care so little about this album. This is at the top of my favorite Floyd albums for sure! I've been a huge fan for a very long time and absolutely dig this album. I guess everyone has they're own opinion but I'm surprised to hear what I have about this album none the less. I do actually own EVERY Floyd album, including compilations, so its not like I've only heard a few. I'm just really drawn to the Barrett era, and this would be his last album to be a part of physically. Although many songs were still related to him long after, such as Shine on you Crazy Diamond as so forth. Long live Floyd!

Some great songs on this album. Syd was involved, so of course there was going to be. Superior effort to the studio album of Ummagumma, the two soundtracks, and the post-Roger Waters albums, that's for sure.

Jugland Blues is the most gorgeous, sad songs Syd Barrett ever wrote. It describes him perfectly, eccentric, genius but flawed. Deserves more praise than it gets.
