What is that something special? Original, politically inspired lyrics!
=thats just completely not true, nearly every song that they decidedly covered were politically charged; i mean dylan, come on....

Despite a few spelling mistakes it was a pretty good review, you did your research, I was glad to see some of the original bands that I wasn't sure about up there. I don't mind the song by song format, but I guess it's a no no around here.
I'm with you on this one tho, I think this album was really well done, and despite the fact that I would've rather had a new studio recording instead, this is underrated.

Great album, I thought the all-covers aspect sucked, but I heard RATM had to make an album for their record label fast so that's what they had to do. By the way- Devo sang Beautiful World originally?! Good god.

Rage's version of such songs as Renegades of Funk, Beautiful World, and Maggie's Farm were completely different (other than lyrical content) and (though some would argue this) better than their original counterpart. Some even to the point where you wouldn't even recognize the original if you hadn't heard it previously. Sure anyone can do a cover song, but RAtM set the standard.

There's some cool jams in this. By far their worst release but still good.
Best songs are Microphone Fiend, I'm Housin and Maggie's Farm.

First and last songs are awesome. The rest ranges from decent to good.

They save the best for last on this one with Maggie's Farm.
Runners up would be Kick out the Jams and Kill a Man

Great album, not as consistent and as strong as RATM's other 3 studio albums, but it's still a very good album, considering it's only made out of cover songs. It's not as memorable as RATM's debut, not as furious and direct as Evil Empire and not as consistent and all around as Battle Of Los Angeles, but it serves as a nice addition to RATM's catalog. Microphone Fiend, How I Could Just Kill A Man and Ghost Of Tom Joad are standouts.
