Regret it you will not.

Eh, this is ok I guess... The guitar playing is solid and melodic.
But this guy's voice is just too ****ing goofy for me.

You do not like Garm?

It's true though, that song is mind-blowing. It's got probably one of the most emotional acoustic guitar riffs I've ever heard. Ulver says a lot without even saying anything.

It's no wonder they influenced Tenhi. One of my favorite Neofolk bands.

Im not usually put off by vocals, but for some reason I cannot get into this because the vocals rub me the wrong way. I love everything else Ulver has done, but... I dunno.

Hey man, the lineup you have listed is way off. The real thing is:
Haavard : Acoustic guitars
AiwarikiaR : Drums, percussion, flute
Garm : Vocals
Alf Gaaskjønli - cello (guest)
Aismal had nothing to do with this record, and Grellmund had long been out of the band when this was made (and I believe out of music entirely. he killed himself about 2 years later).

Is this album composed of songs that are pretty much like the 4th song on Bergtatt? Cuz if it is, I need to check it of, and more dark folk albums as well. I love that song.

after falling in love with Bergtatt, i figure i need another album from Ulver, so i guess this is logically the next step?

This is absolutely NOTHING like Bergtatt. If you want more black metal, go with Nattens Madrigal.
Utreise is the best song here, though.

i realize it's nothing like Bergtatt from the review. i just want more from this band and this is the next highest rating on here. i'm not picky on sound, as long as it's GOOD. basically, disregarding sound, should this be the next Ulver album i get?

I meant is this album like the 4th song on bergtatt? The one thats all folky and dark, and sounds like agalloch (at least to me)

It's pretty close, just add in some really awesome chanting vocals instead of whispers and you have this album. This was the third Ulver album I bought, but I can see it as being a good second one too. Either way, this is a fantastic CD.

Chants instead of whispers? I think i'll check this out sometime if i can find it. I
ll probably love it. I loved whispered vocals though, especially in that particular song and all of Agalloch's folky songs, so i'll see if the chants can surpass the whispering :thumb:

I'm more a whisper fan also, but on this album the chants just....work...
