That's too bad. I thought the same thing at first, but now I absolutely love every song on here (only exception is Looking to Nothing, but even that song is great). This album is really amazing, well worth the time it took me to get used to the sound and the subtle differences of each track.

This may seem like a really hard question for all of you Arsis fans out there, but...favorite song?
For me it's "The Sadistic Motives Behind Bereavement Letters". Can't get enough of that breakdown.

I have heard a bunch of Arsis, but mostly this album. I have to say it is incredible in every sense of the word. I can see why ShadowsFallen loves them so much :p They have that Shadows Fall kind of guitar tone, killer melodic death metal vocals and some sumptuous drumming. Superb album.

I'm having some trouble getting into these guys from the little that I have heard. I guess I'll have to give them awhile to grow on me...

Greetings from the future.
I agree that taste is subjective. I'd say this album would appeal to fans of thrash, black and technical death metal. Arsis are a pretty aggressive band, with relatively simplified structure yet loaded with technical riffs in their arsenal. Solos are short and sweet but remain that way in order to not suffocate the albums pure ruthlessness.
Fans of LOG, Necrophagist, All Shall Perish and The Faceless would enjoy this. More or less, if you're into thrashy, hasty modern black metal with gnarly vocals and melodic rifferage, this is for you.
