It's like Anberlin-lite!

But with catchier hooks and better basswork.

These guys definitely know their way around a catchy chorus. This is better than their newie.

Recalling early Anberlin, Detroit alt-rockers Search The City lay a solid foundation on debut LP 'A Fire So Big The Heavens Can See It'. Well-produced by James Paul Wisner, the quintet definitely know their way around a catchy chorus, with lead vocalist Josh Frost a genuine talent. Meanwhile, melodic guitar leads & propulsive drumming do their jobs ably without capturing the imagination. Innovation is by no means a strength & the band could infuse greater diversity to become more distinctive... However, the potential is clearly there on this otherwise satisfying release. Recommended Tracks: Talk Is Cheap..., Clocks and Timepieces, The Rescue & Streetlight Diaries.

^Agreed on both accounts. Flight is still a pretty fun listen though. The second half of it drags a bit though.

It was, and indeed it does. Been listening to some of the stuff I consider "high school music" recently and surprisingly enjoying it

I did that a while back, too, and was also quite surprised at what I found. Ended up rediscovering some old favorites that I wasn't necessarily expecting to hold up quite so well

That's another band I haven't thought about since high school. For me the odd part is for a while, maybe 2016-2021 or so, I just had no desire to listen to that old alt rock stuff I liked, and I didn't enjoy it much when I did. This year I've been getting a bit back into it, though it's probably still only ~5% of what I listen to

Good album. Streetlight Diaries is my favorite here. They remind me of There For Tomorrow, especially the vocalist.
