I was going to hold off on this EP, but this review has convinced me to get it sooner rather than later. I'm liking the sound of this, and I absolutely love "Sowlio Rune". And Ashes Against the Grain has grown on me immensely in the last month.

I listened to this, last week, while grocery shopping. I like it better than a lot of the Agalloch I've heard. It's pretty chill.

Eliminator, you sure know how to be an asshole. Anyways, I agree this is a really good EP. I think I like it a little more than you Crysis, but I agree with alot of your points. Unfortunately, this EP is not suited for the coming season Oh well, see you this fall Agalloch.

Ya thats true. I don't think it's really worth a solid 4 yet. The only track I listen to on a regular basis is "Birch Black", the rest I listen to only when im in the mood for this kind of music.

The last two songs are extremely good, as well as Pantheist...but the starting kinda isn't as up to par as those songs.

Found this today and had to fork over alot of cash for it. Really serene album and definitely different then their other stuff. I hope this is a glimpse into their new album.

Doubtful. This "neofolk" EP had been in the works for awhile and I think was intended as kind of a one-off. That being said, it's amazing. Having heard their cover of "Kneel to the Cross", which improves upon the original by Sol Invictus, I was really looking forward to this. It doesn't bear too much resemblance to their "Kneel..." cover, but I'll be damned if this whole thing isn't one of the best American "neofolk" recordings I've heard. Though I'm usually not a fan of "movie samples" in songs, the samples they chose from "The Wicker Man" are tasteful and really add to the songs.
It'd be awesome if they collaborated on a similar release with Markus Wolff (Waldteufel) or B'eirth (Birch Book, In Gowan Ring), both of whom also reside in Portland, where Agalloch is from.
