It's not a parody at all, if you consider the date it was made. They were trying to take technical metal to a new extreme. They're widely considered the origin of tech metal.

This guy sang with another band called Hades. They're a little less technical, but they're still good. Then in the ninties (I think it was the ninties) he sang with a band called Non-Fiction which was like Soundgarden feeling depressed.

I was so super excited when I saw the 5, but I became super sad when I spotted the word Jazz

This jazz is totally integrated into the metal. There's no Cynic-esqe breaks in the middle of songs.

How are the vocals? If the vocals aren't gay I might be able to stomach this. I haven't read the review yet, its too early.

Imagine James Labrie (Dream Theater) with his nuts firmly clamped in the claws of a pissed off cat, while they both screech into a microphone. Imagine Rob Halford on "Pain Killer" if he had been squeezing on his own balls instead of someone elses...

I don't really mind the vocals either. This album sounds insane (probably because of the technicality) and the hellion vocals suit the music just fine.

Me too, but I can definitely understand some people's problems with them.

Ha ha, check out their Myspace because now I really want to hear your reaction. As for metalcore reviews, why would you want me to do that? None of them are ever positive.

I'll give this a spin when I get off work.

Why else would I want you to review metalcore? So I can argue with you until you fall in love with the MCore. Trust me, its possible. Plus I'm to lazy to review Asking Alexandria's debut.(hint, hint)

Willie, since you think this is a classic, have you ever checked Sieges Even and their first album?

Even the name sounds bad. I don't have time for any random reviews this month, though.

I've never even heard of them.

In the late 90's they were thought to be one of the best european prog bands ever, especially their first 3 albums ("Steps" is recommended). Their first album ,Life cycle, sounds very much like "Control and Resistance" but, you know, back then it was an honor to tell you that you are able to even sound like Watchtower. Next two albums were equally technical, but didn't sound like Watchtower at all (they were closer to prog rock honestly)
