I started off liking this a lot more than past Meshuggah, and I sort of still do, but it starts off so strong then sort of grows really tiresome. I think they'd be best as an EP band.
I think that's why people liked I so much.
Is this "out"? I didn't think it was due for another week or so...
But anyway, very solid review, and I certainly agree that this is one of their best (although you really probably shouldn't list 2/3 of the album under recommended songs). Anyone else seeing them with Ministry? This Message Edited On 02.29.08

Great review for a great band. Album is pretty damn sick of course I expect nothing but sheer heavieness from these guys. As well as quality.

Even though this review is sound, I'm still going to review this when it is officially released (like a good mentalist).
As far as I'm concerned, this album destroys almost every form of heavy metal/progressive metal around atm. Every track blows my brains out.

This is exactly what's missing from my current library of good metal. Most bands I've listened to that try to be "heavy" usually just come off boring and monotonous. I'm really looking forward to this now. This Message Edited On 03.01.08

This is a fabulous album so I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed (luckily, this is no St Anger).

The songs are great by themselves, but this album is really hard for me to listen to all at once.

This is my first Meshuggah experience. I haven't heard any of their other albums.

Yeah it's much easier than Nothing or Catch 33. Maybe Destroy Erase Improve is easier than ObZen.
|
| |
I didn't really dig Catch 33, yeah i listened to it for like a week then never touched it again.
|
| |
this is now probably my favorite Meshuggah Cd (replacing Nothing, which i found much easier to sit through than Destroy Erase Improve)
this is a simply brilliant piece, but yes, they should probably stick to shorter albums and Eps.

really really solid album. I also quite enjoyed the review.

It had been a long time (at least a year) since I had listened to Meshuggah and I had never liked them much in the past but I really enjoyed listening ObZen and I went back and listened to some of their older stuff and it's all pretty good. I don't know what it is but Meshuggah really just clicked with me.
Fantastic review by the way Jom.

Dancers is one of my favorite Meshuggah songs ever. This is a great CD; can't wait to own the hard copy
