what's the point in mentioning metalcore in a folk metal review

Nothing really. Yeah, I noticed I used a lot of sentence fragments in my reviews. It's good to finally pick them out and further develop the sentences. No doubt the most assistance I've gotten for a review, probaly because I don't ask, and no doubt the most challenging one so far. Also my most rewarding one.

He did it to give an example of a genre that is exploding. Metalcore is also an attention grabber, if a metalhead here sees METALCORE they do this :{...and say grrr.....and bark out how Metalcore sucks. This Message Edited On 02.26.08

I like the review. I'm not a huge fan of song structure explanation though, unless its really unique/gimmicky.

Listened to some of this, and really like what I'm hearing. I can hear the Stanne similarity, which is a plus.

Just from one listen through I can tell these guys (and girls, there's two of 'em!!! lol) had a lot of fun making this album, it really has a lot of intensity. Not the most unique song structures I've ever heard, but they play their instruments well, and it all sounds really tight.

Yeah, I've retracted my last comment (except for the part about it being a good review), I was thinking of a different review.... this band isn't bad, and Anna is kind of cute too...

I've only heard a few songs by this band but they sound pretty interesting. I'll be going to Paganfest to see Ensiferum again, so i'll be able to check these guys out at the same time :P

^^^Nice, sounds awesome.

To Willie. Yeah, I thought it sounded too far off to be anything but a mix up it's all good man .

Some of the tracks here are bit cookie-cutter generic-like (as far as folk metal goes), but some (like Somber Lay, Travos, and Calling the Rain) really impress me, regardless of whether or not they sound familiar.

Inis Mona is a sick song. Love the vocals.

I agree, good album. i'm proud to see this on front and center. Probaly my best one so far. I'd say Grey Sublime Archon is my favorite song here along with Slanias Song.

^^^You know, between the three of us, that's pretty much the whole damn album lol. This is good stuff. I was going for a 4, but the more I listen to it, the more songs that didn't stick out for me as much at first (like Inis Mona and Slanias Song) grow on me. This is looking at a 4.5 now tbh. Just went to the CD store with a list of albums, this was on it. However, I didn't find this CD. I did end up buying "The Novella Reservoir" by Novembers Doom so I guess the trip was a success.
