This is not better than Divine Wings. Not by a long shot. It's better than V or the Odyssey imo, or at least on that level (I've whored it too.)

Fucking walks all over Twilight or anything before TDWOT though.

This is one of the few power/progressive metal albums I like.

I just the video for 2. Set the World on Fire (The Lie of Lies)

last night on Much Music's Loud (which is the the equivalent version to the US's Headbangers Ball except really short, 1/2 hour, and too few really great heavy metal videos/ songs). The video was nothing short of corny but I really liked the song. I think I may check this album out again AP. That song was fun.

this is where I came in with Symphony X as well .Not into power metal and I thought that was all I'd be getting.I was wrong and this is a comfortable 4+

I'm going to give it a relisten. I didn't like it the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd time I listened to it.

I would say to try not to focus on any one section of a song, or on any one musician/instrument and what he/it is doing, and try and take in the overall soundscape, the (I think powerful) mood created fairly naturally. Then again, I couldn't begin to tell you HOW to do that so, good luck lol. In any case, no pressure, if you don't like it, you don't like it, I much prefer honesty over fanboyism (something that kind of applies to me with this band lol)

Every album I listen to, I listen to it as a whole first. Than after that, I start to dissect the instruments. These guys just didn't set off any mood besides boredom. Maybe its the whole power/ epic metal thing I don't get. I give everything a fair shot (sometimes more than needed). I will get around to this again.

Symphony-X rule.

"They Odyssey" & "Live on the Edge of Forever" are excellent prog/power metal.

not a bad review. symphony x was recommended to me by a friend, but i haven't checked them out yet.
the review could be somewhat longer, don't make my mistake of writing short reviews.

Very good review, your use of grammer is excellent from start to finish. Im not gonna complain about the length seeing as it was supposed to be a sound off.

I havnt heard anything from this album yet.

I've listened to the first four tracks, and it does kinda bore me. Guess I'm more interested in 'dramatic' power metal (Nightwish, Kamelot) than the speedy stuff (Dragonforce, Symphony X).

Mentioning DF and this band in the same sentence is blasphemy lol.

I like your swagger Zherkezhi

Thanks for the compliments, really appreciate it. And yeah, part of me wants to expand this into a truly full-fledged review, but pretty much no one agrees with me anyway lol. It's all good though.

I agree with you very much Angelpheonix. Also to thewizard if you dont like the album then you just dont like the album. you shouldnt have to force yourself to like something.

This album RULES!!! I've been listening to SX for 20 years now. All SX releases, (Since Damnation Game), are awesome and that's what count. It doesn't matter which one is best because they all are enjoyable anyway.
