It's a damn good album, it's cool to hear a metalcore band that's got a good ambient thing going on and doesn't kill it with a bad transition to a generic breakdown.

But like, I guess that's why it's not metalcore, right Burt?

But yeah, like, when a metalcore band has those parts, they're still metalcore. I guess you could like say its post rock influenced metalcore, idk, it is all very complex, this hearing buisiness.

Uh that's because a metalcore band plays mostly metalcore, if they play ambient parts a lot less than they play metalcore then they're not really going to shake that as their genre; just like if a band like Intronaut that constantly shifts tone and dynamics plays metalcore (or just straight metal as they often do) a lot less than the ambience or dynamic-shifting, then they're still going to be called post-metal

No, see, you're wrong and I don't feel like pointing out the 30,000 obvious points that I could use to prove you wrong, so stfu.

Seriously, all I listen to anymore is metalcore, I know what the genre sounds like, I'm not denying they have a post-metal tinge, I'm just saying they're still a metalcore band.

Also, crap like Fall Out Boy is gonna be called emo by kids who are wrong, doesn't mean they're emo though. This Message Edited On 01.09.08

To be honest most of the metalcore you listen to is frigging awful

I've heard plenty of metalcore and know plenty about what it sounds like, as well as what post-metal bands sound like, you're not really in any position of experience here

You should probably take your own really stupid point about emo to heart and stop labeling bands as something they're clearly notThis Message Edited On 01.09.08

The problem is, this band clearly plays metalcore, so please just stfu already. I don't care how good or bad you think the music I listen to is, because I enjoy it based on how I connect with it. The fact still stands that you're wrong. Just straight up wrong. If a band like As I Lay Dying with less hardcore influence than Intronaut is metalcore, then Intronaut sure as fuck is too.

The fact is, I probably listen to this album a shitload more than you do, so I'm probably a lot more familiar with it.This Message Edited On 01.09.08

Except AILD doesn't play anything remotely post-metal whereas Intronaut does all the time
Nice non-sequitur though

As I Lay Dying plays melodic death metal then, because their music draws a lot of similarities to that!!!!!!

Oh wait, no, it's just metalcore with a lot of mdm influence. Just like Intronaut's metalcore with a lot of post-metal influence, stop talking, you're a pretentious moron.

There's a difference between drawing a lot of similarities from something/being influenced by it and actually playing it
Because see, AILD is obviously just drawing a similarity, while Intronaut is actually playing post-metal
By your logic you might as well call Isis a metalcore/metal band, or Callisto or Pelican or etc etc

Oh cool I'm listening to Nostalgic echo, this song sounds kind of like a more ambient Botch, oh cool post-rock portion but there's a metalcore part right afterwards, cool.

What you're failing to realize is that there's more parts to the album that are just kind of ambient metalcore than anything else... like by your standards, you could call This Runs Through post-metal.This Message Edited On 01.09.08

why do you both insist on catergorizing the band as one thing? they aren't strictly post-metal or metalcore, it is possible for them to be both

Now I'm listening to Teledildonics, oh wow this metalcore song has some post-rock interludes too. Holy crap, I guess it is post-metal omg! I mean, interludes between the main drive of a song are what defines it more, right?!This Message Edited On 01.09.08
