I really liked the video. From what i've heard of the album, I liked what I heard. I still plan on buying this despite the trashing.

I listened to this and thought it was OK. Not exactly my thing. I was disappointed with the Poison cover - thought she could have done something more expansive with the chorus. I still like Tarja though. Hope she does well.

I actually listened to another 6 tracks, that way I've listened to more than half the album.

meh, i don't think this is actually as bad as people say, the epic choruses that are on some of the songs are sweet, and the bonus song Damned Vampires and Gothic Divine is pretty awesome, of course some stuff is total shit but there is some good that Tarja can build on in the future
it's not Nightwish, but its not terrible

Albums been getting some good reception elsewhere. I know, nothing compared to Nightwish but still nice to hear the voice. I plan on getting this soon, next amazon purchase.

I am one of the biggest Nightwish fan boys on here, and I haven't even listened to the whole thing yet. From the few songs I have heard, I am not missing much.

I find it so funny listening to retarded metal head comment on something which isnt shallow pointless noise, you guys are actually just about as bad as those filthy stinking inbred chav's.
I just find it so funny how many of you have such shallow minds when it comes to music- Im guessing you are the kind of people who only listen to heavy stuff because you think it is 'cool' where as actually, you are showing the lack of brains and understanding to music, and therefore, your comments mean nothing... just a useless noise, just like you listen to.... OMG... what is that screeching... oh, it's just a Korn song anyone?

Your attempted attack reeks of fail. Youll find that the metalheads on this site stay as far away from the generic metal scene and the "cool" aspect of listening to music. As for your first comment on this site, youre not qualified one bit to make a judgement on the mental capacity of the other users based on two pages of comments on a sub-par album.

LOL!!! I listen to classical music dude. I love the symphonic aspects of music more than any other type there is.

I have to say this review is way too harsh. The album isn't that bad. In fact it's not bad at all, it's just mediocre. This album just lacks that something...well something. Tarja's voice is always great though.
As for the songs, I love Oasis, it's a good song.
I gave 3 stars.
edit: I have to say I'm a bit disappointed at the quality of comments I see at sputnikmusic.com. Pretty immature stuff. This Message Edited On 04.23.08

I enjoy this a lot more than Dark Passion Play for obvious reasons. I think this is quite underrated but 21 tracks is a bit too much. I have more faith for ner next album than Nightwish. As far as I'm concerned, Nightwish is burning it's last few embers before finally dying out like Theatre Of Tragedy and in particular Tristania. Although to be fair, their new album isn't out yet. Don't have much faith in it ruling regardless. However, I like that there's a supergroup called Northern Kings featuring Marco Hielata and Tony Kakko. If there was a Northern Queens with Tarja, Vibeke, possibly Anneke, and Floor, i'd die of joy.

WOW!! I listened to 5 tracks on this before I had to close out of the window on my computer. I respect your musical tastes, but saying you have more faith in a women who probably doesn't even write her own songs, and then performs these songs at a subpar level from when she was with Nightwish is stretching it a lot. If I remember correctly the genius that is Tuomas Holopainen is still the songwriter for Nightwish, and they still have a kickass bassist and vocalist in Marco Hietala. Yeah Annette may be more poppy than Tarja, but at least she sings in her poppy range instead of trying to mix operatic and pop vocal styling together and failing horrendously.

Take out the several pointless interludes and the extended versions of Walk Alone as well as a couple tracks from the end and you'll have a pretty good album. I'm between 3-3.5 but her voice is just as beautiful as it was in Nightwish if not more.

If this album was just The Reign, I'd look on it more favorably. One of the nails on the coffin here was the cover of Poison. Sweet evil Jesus...
This is like Annie Lennox and Alison Moyet all over again.

this album was junk, the guitars tone was terrible, the male vocalist was a marco wannabe and the cover of poison made me throw up in my mouth a little, no one covers Alice Cooper and gets away with it

Arsis did a pretty gnarly job covering Roses on White Lace.
