its sad to see that you didnt mention the Syd Barrett/Pink similarities

its almost obvious this was written about Syd....

either way... i think you were way to harsh on the NON radio songs

BOF, I think you rated just about every song lower than I would have.

I'm not a huge fan of this album. It just gets a bit too boring....there are some real moments of greatness on here, but I still prefer Dark Side Of The Moon.

Yeah, I really think of the Wall as one song so it was hard for me to rate them individually.

As for the lyrics, Waters wrote all of the Wall. Gilmour wrote most of the music with him, however.

I have to say if you ever get the chance you have to hear the live version of this album. The live version of mother is possibly the best thing i have ever heard

In my opinion, the live version is much, much better than the studio version. It could just be because I heard the live version first, but the studio one seems rather boring in comparison. The songs have more energy and emotion when played live.

Ur review was preatty good except i dont agree with 2 parts.

1. I give I anbody out there more than u did (more like a 6.) I think that i serves as a resting place so we can catch our breath so to speak.

2. Animals is nowhere near being the best Floyd album. All it is is reheated Wish You Were Here. As 4 my favorite, it really depends what mood im in. Overall the depth of music quality in the Wall is the best. I like Dark Side of the Moon if i'm sitting in my room ready 2 sleep or if i have friends over and we are sitting i my room (with only a lava lamp lighting the room makes it even better.) Wish You Were Here is my favorite 2 listen 2 when i'm in a good mood.

I got this CD after DSOTM, and I have to say it really blew me away. I love the way that Pink Floyd have a series of shorter songs with the occasional longer one thrown in, and songs like Comfortably Numb really are all time classics. It gets 4.5/5 from me though, as it lacks the overall consistency of Animals and Wish You Were Here for top marks.

Great Review:thumb:

Im still in descision with this album. It has it's really great areas and then suddenly it goes into other areas that just shouldn't be there(IMO).

I can't get round "The Trial" - just an awful song.

The trial is so amazingly fun. It reminds me of muppets, for some reason.

Yeah, I love the trial as well. Just something about it's sheer wierdness that really appeals to me.

I really am not a big fan of The Wall, It is still a Great Album though. I don't like anything that Pink Floyd did after Animals.

This wasn't about Syd. The whole thing was sparked by a show where Roger spit on a fan who was heckling during an acoustic song. So it's sort of about his downward spiral as a person.

Anyway, I'm not a big fan of The Wall, either... I think it's a tad too pretentious and long-winded. I'd take WYWH over it anyday.
Hmm...sounds pretty cool, I only own Animals and Dark Side of the Moon, would you recommend this as a next Floyd album?
No, the wall is truly awful.

It was so cool, we had an English test on the video clip to 'The Wall' (our test was on 'powerplay'). I had the song going through my head for the rest of the day. :D

Was Syd the original guitarist? When did he leave?

BTW, if anyone is interested all the songs were by Roger Waters except Young Lust (Waters and David Gilmour), Comfortably Numb (Gilmour and Waters) Run Like Hell (Gilmour and Waters) and The Trial (Waters and Bob Ezrin, whoever he is.)

Also, Empty Spaces was short but still good so it deserved a higher mark. On the film its longer with a good bit of shouting at the end which is why it isn't just an intro to young lust but I've no idea why this bit isn't on the CD.

The Wall is the best Pink Floyd album I've listened to IMO. Some songs aren't radio friendly but are still good. Thats why you should listen to it as a whole album rather than just the radio friendly bits. Although the radio friendly bits are great to. But when I think about what Scissor Sisters have done to comfortably numb I almost feel sick.
