This album has some of their best songs, One of my Lies and Christie Road are classics. All the songs are good or great and they added four songs later on this album: Sweet Children, Best Thing in Town, Strangeland, Generation. These songs do feel added, the quality sounds like its off 1039, decent songs but disposable. Kerplunk is superb.

For me at least, this is their second best next to Dookie. Their best lyrical wise and just all around FUN

1:40-1:51 in Private Ale and 1:34-1:54 in Who Wrote Holden Caulfield are two of my favorite passages in all of music. I really miss these rock out segments Green Day would have in their older songs.

Surprisingly a little boring compared to 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, which had some really good
music.
And ReturnToRock, I agree with you that Kerplunk seems more similar to Insomniac than to Dookie.
That isn't a good thing though. I imagine Dookie as a lake and Insomniac as a river, fast flowing
but constrained.
1039 grew on me by the third listen, but Kerplunk still seems a little shallow to me.
Just got to "Words I Might Have Ate." Really fun track.

Rules.
Some great songs on here... Android, Christie Road, Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? and of course Welcome to Paradise.
The original version of Welcome to Paradise is more raw. Bass sounds better.

Without the Sweet Children EP songs (the last four songs) this would be better than Dookie.
