No better or worse than Emotive. I'm really particular to Momma Sed, Queen B and the Rev 22:20 dry martini mix. The rest are not -bad-, but didn't strike me as memorable. Just not my cup of tea.

wow, 'daeth,' that is probably the most inaccurate statement i've yet to read on sputnik...congrats, man! im not saying vox arent important, but really, a cappella is certainly not more engrossing than an instrumental. maynard only writes words, and after the musics been written at that. even he, in all his interviews states that "music comes first, lyrics are secondary"

Well, I don't about original...but dark and catchy certainly.

It just sounds like he made a better version of a lot of stuff other bands tried to do and did badly. and made it dark and catchy of course.



the first half of the cd is much stronger in my opinion. and some of his songs could have done with some more variation or shortening.



but on a whole, this is an enjoyable album.

Mer De Noms is still may favorite maynard work by far. It doesn't sound pieced together like this and some of his other stuff does.



after you've heard the first minute, you've pretty much heard the whole song (excluding your average 3/4 duration solo or breakdown...) and none of those are too spectacular.



but like I said, it is enjoyable, and it's good.

this stuff is pretty interesting, remember its a soundtrack, not something to live by. Not a classic, but some very good music, im sure im not the first person to think its a very sexy record.
give maynard a break newayz, he's been making passionate and deep music for the last 17 years, let him make do something different!
