Yeah, they completely changed their sound when metalcore was getting huge. They just started sucking, that's all.

I don't buy into the sellout bullshit, and I don't care if a band becomes famous. I leave those complaints to people that want to feel different by listening to bands no one knows of (which seems to mainly be a metal-fan issue). If a band's music is good, I like them regardless of sells.

and they shouldnt be blamed for being original..even though people say they sound like a cheap version of metallica..guns n roses..iron maiden..or pantera or anything..but those bands r the main influences of a7x..and they dont suck..because they r very talented..but not many musician's try to be original and totally unpredictable like that..because im pretty sure its pretty risky for business..but i think they're doing an excellent job..and i wouldnt be surprised if this kind of approach on music actually has an impact on the future of music

There are a lot of bands that try to be original and unpredictable... most just don't make it into the mainstream like a7x are. Coheed and Cambria, The Mars Volta, and to a lesser extent, Thrice all try to be original and unpredicatable.

mmm u bring something up i didnt think about b4..and excuse me if some of my rants sound like bull shit..cuz ive only recently been introduced nto harder forms of rock n roll...and i guess if coheed and cambria and the mars volta arent under the microscope like this...then it has to mean something for a7x..but if they really did suck..then people wouldnt still be listening to them..and im pretty sure they'd change back to their original style..but since they keep going on and changing things up..then people must still like it..and im pretty sure City of Evil was rated 67 of the 100 best albums ever..so that has to be saying something for them...

its all about a matter of perspective i guess..since rock n roll has become so diverse and evolved a lot..theres so many forms of music..so i guess it depends on what ur nto...

@ Josh: I'm inclined to agree with you (except Thrice is pretty good). I was just naming a few other mainstream bands that try to be a little more original.

@eskimojesus: some of the backlash against a7x may come from the general consensus that they used to be metalcore and have "progressed" into a more radio-friendly sound. Whether it's true or not... I don't know.

At any rate, if you've just barely got into heavier music then this is a good place to expand your musical range in that area. This Message Edited On 11.02.07

mm..well im glad im n the right place willie...but i just want to make it clear that being on the radio isn't their intentions at all..but if u listen..its not like they've abandoned metalcore it kinda sounds to me that they still incorporate it nto their music...

and i think Synysters and Zachys guitar styles n their self titled album and city of evil was put together with some of The Rev's and M. Shadow's screaming vocals..then they could produce yet another great album

whether they do or don't incorporate metalcore doesn't really bother me, because I'm not really into the genre at all.

If I were to suggest heavy music that is challenging I'd suggest Thought Industry's first two albums, or Cynic, or Atheist, or To-Mera... maybe Anacrusis or Opeth.

this cd = wack

coming from someone who loved everyone of their cds to death

A lot the stuff is really cheesy on the album and the lyrics are really bad.

And I know they're talented, but just because your talented doesn't mean you can't make suckass music.

I find it funny but also annoying how the author had the setup of a little piece of heaven mixed up. Shows tht there was almost no effort put into analyzing the music. And how can the album be repetitive listen 2 critical acclaim then dear god. Wtf poor review
