I like the regurlar guitar version way better but I seem to be in the minority

i dont think you are

the guitar version is less boring but the alt. works in some gratifyingly tedious manner

it made sense to me, some people are naturally sad and this is quite the motive

I tend to listen more to sad/depressing music. eg. Elliott Smith, RHP, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead. But this does not mean that I'm a sad or depressed person. It's just that I think that sad music is very often more emotional and emotional songs are always better (although I dont listen to emo.. well actually I hate the concept 'emo' 'cause nearly all music is emotional, just in different ways)

People that dont listen to music exept for radio hits and MTV (most people unfortunately) like so called happy music and that's why most hits are 'happy'. For those people sad music is something like James Blunt. In fact they have no idea what depressing music really is.

I'm glad I haven't considered suicide although I've had (like all of us) hard times, and music has been the best help to get through them.

Now I'm listening to Pavement's "Slanted and Enchanted" and I'm very happy.

I've always thought down colorful hill or songs for a blue guitar were sadder but this is definantly up there

I think I just barely like this more than Ghosts of the Great Highway, barely.

I'm just listening to it.. and I've now finally decided to give it a 5 instead of a 4,5.

"Katy Song" may be one of the best songs ever written.

This is a good record, but being the rather ADD listener I am when it comes to lyrics, I find the music and melodies of more immediate interest. This album has a lot of dark and unique-sounding chord progressions and guitar moments, so it's a winner in my book.
