Yes, people tell me what musicians to like. I am a slave to their will. Be reasonable. Most people are directed to to musicians and music and make up their own mind. I happen to think their (RATM/RHCP) praise is justified. I also form opinions about bands that have high praise but don't end up liking them (ex. I don't like the Rolling Stones no matter how much people whore them out to me).
Excuse my spelling mistake.
Music is subjective. But thanks for telling me what you think, I'll keep your opinion in mind.

Music is subjective.
Yeah.

Exactly
If music is so subjective don't go acting like someone else's opinion is invalid since they like some band that you don't, because then your opinion is just as invalid to everyone else who doesn't like what you do
They still suck just like RATM, RHCP and Alter Bridge though, and I really dont think any amount of respect or acceptance is going to make their music any better
WORD!
this album isnt good, its just better than their last album which was a little catchy but still sucked.

Excellent review. I really like Ties that Bind, the vocals are what makes the song. And I really like Watch Over You. Really good album.

I personally think this album is amazing, alot different to one day remains which is great in its own right, but this album is just something else.
White Knuckles, Brand New Start, Rise Today and Ties That Bind are all great, infact the whole album is just awesome!

This album is an improvement, but still boring as hell.

I have the first album. I saw this at Best Buy when I was looking for the new Parkway Drive record (which they didn't have ) and I thought about picking it up. I must say I'm intrigued after reading this.

Great review Cain. Well thought out, well written.
Please take a look at Big Wreck, and anything Ian Thornley. I'd love to hear your take.

It's a well written review, and actually convinced me to pick this up....But this isn't the vast improvment that you're making it to be. Granted, I didn't like their first album at all, minus Metalingus.
This is an improvement tho, and its certainly not a bad album. But the fact that just about every chorus sounds very similiar and has the exact same feel, really drags on it. The heavier tracks are far better than any of the slower ones. Except for Blackbird, which is sick.
Anyways, Yeah...well-written review.

Alter Bridge, like Mayfield Four, like Big Wreck, though a few degrees separate them
all, take more than a few listens to absorb them. Lyrically I always thought Myles to
be a bit on the generic or corny side, but over time I have grown to like his
generalities.
Check out both the Mayfield Four CD's. Some undiscovered gems on them for
sure.
Again Cain, Take a look at these (Ian Thornley with Eric Johnson and the TSO):

And the latest demos (especially This Might be The End- wait for the solo):

Your musical knowledge and the reviews that you've written, even though you lean
toward metal, leads me to believe that you would appreciate Ian.
And:
I never understood the point of an unqualified "they suck". It adds nothing to the
dialog and lets the other readers know nothing of what the writer thinks does not
suck.

Ties That Bind and the title track alone make this album good enough to buy. Definately suprised me when I listened to it; that opening track was way heavier then I was expecting. Massive improvement for these guys.

This album rocks! really shocked me. This is the first alter bridge album I really get into, and though honestly I was not a big fan of the vocalist at first..I have really come to appreciate him much MUCH more then before.
Ties that Bind...is freaking amazing and the energy never stops here..this song hooks you till the end.
Other songs I recommend are Coming Home, Come to Life ext all in all its an excellent album.

Great album. I liked there first but this one is so much better. Blackbird is such a great track and definetly my favorite off the album. Great review as well.

I registered to this site because of this review.
Finally someone who knows what he's talking about, actually has knowledge of songwriting, reviews the CD instead of just the band and 10% CD criticism, well attention payed to the bands progress and in general a very openminded approach.
Actually one of the better reviews I've ever read.

Yeah, not to fond of these guys or anything they've ever done. Mark Tremonti is a damn fine guitarist but I just don't like the music these guys put out. Tremonti kinda sells himself short with this generic rock group. I guess if everyone else likes it then thats cool but i'm just not feeling it at all...
