Burnt Offerings is the only Iced Earth album that does anything for me.

Just ordered this, so I'll see how good or bad this album is soon enough.

I agree with basically everything this review says. The whole album is just really, for lack of a better word, boring. It trudges on and on through bland uninspired riffing and useless interludes with the occasional good moment. What Schaffer should have done is combine the two Something Wicked albums, taken out the filler songs and he may have had a good album. Before he created a concept album he should've looked at actually well done concept albums such as The Crimson Idol and Seventh Son instead of having the great idea of making an overly long album with only a few good tracks.

This was a letdown, but it's still a decent album. Ripper just can't cut it, and Bobby Jarzombek should still be playing drums for them.

As a concept album it's almost perfect in every single way. Really is a case of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts. The little interludes, which I'm guessing were also put in to indicate time having passed, fit in quite snuggly with the rest of the album.
The better individual songs (10 Thousand Strong, Setian Massacre, The Clouding, Domino Decree and Framing Armageddon) are imo up there with the very, very best of IE. Unfortunately past those there's really only another couple of songs (Something Wicked part1 and When Stars Collide) that I don't find a bit tedious (though Motivation of Man is pretty sweet even if it's only a minute long).
Apparently the next part of the concept is, musically, going to be more in the vein of the first set of songs I mentioned (10 Thousand Strong . . .) which I look forward to =)

The interludes do nothing for me at all.

I picked this up because most of the pro reviews had been praising it and I love it. I really don't see whats wrong with the clouding. It is a slow song for the first half but that's part of the story. I think the story is amazing and the album as a whole is just awesome. I'm going to write my own review of this.

If you had heard Night of the Stormrider or Burnt Offerings, you'd realize how sub par this album is for Iced Earth.

idk but tbqh night of the stormrider isn't all that impressive but i guess that's mainly Barlow not being there

This album has grown on me. I quite like it, wasn't what I expected, but yea, kind of a creeper, slowly grows on you.

I'm sorry guys but I really like this album. Maybe it's because I didn't start off with all of their old stuff, which I do love, but I really dig the singer and the whole concept.

I actually loved this album, I feel overall it was better than Crucible of Man, and it was their best work with Owens aside from The Glorious Burden. Needless to say, my username says it all, I love this band, they're one of my favorites of all time.

But just because Barlow is back, doesn't mean that I felt Crucible of Man was the greatest thing since sliced bread, far from it, it was solid, but it just lacked the oomph that Owens brought, plus, have you ever heard Barlow sing Ten Thousand Strong? Can we say ass-tastic? Sure we can!

Anyway, I rest my case, this is a solid album, I love it, am glad I bought it, and hopefully the next IE album after Crucible will be good.
