From what I've heard of this album, it matches what you're saying..pretty boring and generic, but interesting at times.
You mentioned Dayton Cantley...Check out From Graves of Valor on myspace, the band Dayton and 2 old Guitarist from TTEOTD are in. In my opinion, they're better than TTEOTD ever were.

TTEOTD are one of these bands that can sustain interest for about 3 songs.
I doubt I'll check this out.

So I shouldn't buy this album

No.

Sorry, you just don't convince me for some reason.

TTEOTD was one of my stepping stones into to death metal...so i may have some bias. I fell in love with Scars of Ages EP. Then fell in love with the breakdowns in the follow-up. I personally don't think this album sounds anything like the TTEOTD i know. It is largely due to the vocals. It is different and seems generic at first, but i am going to have to give it a chance as you guys should as well.

I tried it and yeah, the review is the result. Still love the EP though.

Why did that guy on the first page keep referring to Mortal Kombat?
Good review as well. This Message Edited On 08.19.07

I gave it a few tries. The album just sucks. Every song is the same formula. Intro, verse, solo, verse, breakdown...usually along those lines.
Then the generic vocals - just terrible.

I honestly don't hate this cd, the instruments are repetitive but still sound cool as a whole... but the vocals are extremely generic and don't change all that much throughout the cd which does make me think less of it.

ehhh I would have to agree with everyone with this, the vocals are as boring as ive ever heard. the instruments aren't enough to get this cd out of the bland train, though I was never too fond of TteotD, I think I really know why now
|

I dunno why but I really like this album.
The drumming is rather by the numbers but i still find it very pleasing.
Great guitar tone and good production add to it a lot, plus i kinda like the new singer, for some reason. I think he fits well.
Its hard to take more than 3 or 4 songs in a row but i do really enjoy giving this album a spin; its just loud, violent, thrashy but also catchy.
Thats my view on it, at least.

I think Bloodlust is probably better than this, even though I'm yet to hear this in its entirety.

It seems like you say 'I guess' a lot.
If you're going to write a review, trust your own words.

I said 'I guess' twice and it was a joke.

I heard a little of Failure in the Flesh and I really liked the riff the song started with, but like he said the vocals completely destroy anything that is listenable

The user ratings for this are as close to a normal distribution I have seen on sputnikmusic.

The differance from Bloodlust and Malice is that Bloodlust actually had really good songs drowned in the mediocre song writeing. aka was a bit catchyerThis Message Edited On 09.04.07
