Agalloch has pretty much nothing in common with Leviathan so a comparison isn't really appropriate.
Wrest voice is far to fx enhanced imo. It's not just distortion, but also chorus effects. :-/

He could be talking for all the layers that are on his voice. It just sounds completely obscured in mostly chorus and reverb/delay. Distortion is very sparse, I agree with you on that.

Yeah, he doesn't need a lot of distortion cause his voice is demonic as it is. At least he doesn't layer like Behemoth does.

After a few more carefull listens to Leviathan, I would still say Agalloch is far better, simply because they are way more melodic and there songs are not as repeditive. They might be different than Agalloch, but not as much diversity.

No, Wrests vocals are terrible. They are just random droning mumbles and unlike bands like Inquisition with similar vocals, the music is far to boring to make up for it.

Well you should listen to Inquisition if you like the vocals, plus their music is fantastic, but they aren't like this. They are just more straight up black metal instead of ambient black. But yeah, they great. Right up your alley.
