If this is more boring then I'm Wide Awake It's Morning then I'm definitly not checking this out.

Easily one of my favorite Bright Eyes record. Every time i listen to it i wanna say it's my favorite, but for some reason there's something keeping it from being my absolute favorite. Even though nearly every song is new, catchy, and, well, odd. But it's a terrific album overall. Only a couple of 'okay' tracks. But Conor can really do no wrong.

I was expecting this to be really awesome and when I sat down to listen to it realized it was quite the opposite. Really the only good songs are Easy/Lucky/Free as you said and I like Hit the Switch (although I can see reasons to not like it) and I Believe in Symmetry. Nice review

Just started actually giving this album a chance and I am liking it way more than I remember. Hit the Switch is a current highlight for me

the lack of discussion for this one is kinda wild
just realised the last 2.5 minutes of I Believe in Symmetry are some of their greatest work

This album is so much better than I gave it credit for back in the day.

opener here is pretty strong. guessing it filtered a shitton of the bright eyes demographic back in 05 though

The companion version ep of these songs should have got more attention. It is like if you took 6 of these songs and put them on I'm wide awake. They are great.

This is top tier Bright Eyes. I never understood why it got so much hate from fans when it came out.
It's consistent, the lyrics are deep, and has some amazing sounding undertones throughout. It takes you on a journey, and Arc of Time is one of Bright Eyes best songs to date.

Agreed, wonderful grower of an album. This is my wife’s favorite Bright Eyes album (mine is Lifted). It was cool to hear the EP reworks of these songs into a folk sound and vice versa with Wide Awake getting Digital Ash-ified
