The songs on their myspace sound so much more epic than the stuff thats on this ep. Definitely a good thing.

You guys want to hear a much better band than Abigail that does the whole American symphonic black/death better? Especially to Hawks. The name is... Aurora Black.

Never heard of them. I'll look up some of their stuff.

I just checked out a couple of songs on Aurora Black's myspace and they're damn good. I dont know about better than AW, but I'm checking out their Burial in the Sea album right now.

I think Carach Angren is better than both of them tbh (they're not from America but who cares)

I agree completely, but as far as the American scene goes AW definitely is one of the best

Yeah AW is definitely one of the best American black metal bands. The USBM scene is pretty much 90% shit.

These guys belong to the deathcore scene more than the USBM scene, regardless of what music style they play...

Maybe this album has a bit of "core" in it, but its main style is symphonic black metal. And their new stuff is straight up symphonic black metal with nothing core about it.

AW, Nachtmystium, The Funeral Pyre, and Aurora Black are literally the only good American black metal bands i know of. and nachtmystium's new cd sucked real hard
These guys belong to the deathcore scene more than the USBM scene, regardless of what music style they play... No because they are neither death metal or hardcore/metalcore. They are a myspace band though, if that's why you associate them with the deathcore sceneThis Message Edited On 08.03.08

Leviathan's latest album is good as hell. Also you could count Agalloch as USBM. And I'm listening to Burial in the Sea by Aurora Black right now. Pretty good stuff. Probably will get a 3.5 or a 4.

Oh and of course Leviathan. i always forget they are american considering they sound straight-up european. But i agree about Burial in the Sea, no higher than a 4 but its an enjoyable CD.

The clean singing on Evoking the Entity of Daedulus is absolutely horrible though.

The Funeral Pyre isn't black metal nor is Abigail Williams, Aurora Black is more death metal based but the previous two are nowhere near it. Poor examples of american black metal tbh. Nor is Agalloch, the only thing black about them are the vocals but the actual term for Agalloch and Woods Of Ypres is "dark metal" which sounds more fitting to me considering they blend several styles instead of sticking to one. Good american black metal is Wolves In The Throne Room, Instinct Decay from Nachtmystium, Peordh, Harvist, Withered although grind and doom influenced, and especially Hennes Siste Host. I personally like Judas Iscariot although some of the previous groups might not be as solid.
