what did you rate interpol's first album if you rated this a 3?

He rated it a 4. Which is a rating I agree with. This is nothing above a 3.5 in comparison to their other stuff.

this album i think is at least a 4. you just have to get into it and not skip to the wellknown songs

This just came out. Like not even 24 hours have passed yet.

i hate this comparisation with Joy Division. Their songwriting is diferent, their attitude is diferent, it`s just completely diferent band. I rated Our Love To Admire as 4/5, because it`still not perfect but great enough to get 4. I love the vocals and arangement of new songs, that`s it.

Ugh, this band is so painfully mediocre. I truly don't see the appeal in their music.

I really don't like the single off of this, I've never came across an interpol song that I couldn't stand until i heard the heinrich manouver

This album does absolutely nothing for me. It's not bad by any means there's just nothing on this disc worth listening too. While Turn on the Bright Lights and Antics had a couple of memorable songs Our Love to Admire has none.

good review, they were always on Capitol Records though - Matador is a sub-division of it.

When you said that they sound like Joy Division is like saying The Beatles sound like Captain Beefheart. I'm glad you put that in the beginning of your review because it discredits everything else you say.

Except Paul Banks sounds exactly like Ian Curtis...

Interpol could have been such a better band had they not tried to change their sound from Bright Lights...

The problem is, is that Paul Banks found love and money after Bright Lights and cheered up significantly.

also, Where the fuck has Carlos gone on this album? =/

I love Pioneer to the Falls, but since I listen to this album as I go to sleep, I haven't heard anything else, except Heinrich. But yeah, Pioneer is really good.

Going back and listening to Bright Lights reminds me just how mediocre this album truly is.

Carlos turned into a mexican also. No more black suit its now like velvet red suits with a dirty 'stach.

Listen to it several times. I love his lyrics. He captures so many thoughts, ideas and feelings through his lyrics. It seems random at first but if you look at it, its more a progression of thoughts. Love the lyrics

mammoth is uhh... fun?
why does everyone sound like everyone now? paul banks, ian curtis, ... that guy from the editors. looks like the 'aghhhhh...hhhh.hhaghahhh' style of singing has finally caught on.

the heinrich manouver (or whatever) video depresses me.

good review this pretty much summed up all I have to say.

I'd say this is more consistent then Antics but doesn't have the Highs.

all disenfranchised Interpol fans should pick up The National's 'Boxer' because it is an incredible piece of work (also hailing from NYC, funnily enough) which takes 'Bright Lights and expands on it they way Interpol perhaps should have.

more of the same, but it's still pretty enjoyable. The Heinrich Maneuver is great.
